Re: Weather
Safe travels Dave. It was a lovely day yesterday with lots of sunshine, not much chance of that today with heavy cloud cover and rain later. Temperature will be down too at 8°c. Don't be falling for any of those pesky Rip Alloof jokes today

Hope it stays dry for your trip Dave
Don't come here then!
Rain again this morning! Shiny van now wet!
New, robotic lawn mower arriving soon, so we don't come back to a green jungle, needs dry grass to get it started!!!
Rain forecast all week!

Heavy rain for most of the night here, stopped at 8, long enough to get Tag out for a wee donder.
Have a nice day.

Re: Weather
A damp day overcast day here so no more polishing. To be honest after yesterday I couldn’t do any more. There are bits of me that are objecting to the thought of that of that much activity. Maybe the idea of a polishing machine as Ian suggested will be a better idea.
The morning walk will help untangle me a bit and then we are having lunch with our daughter and son in law. Management cooked a nice piece of lamb yesterday to take with us. We have a pot full of mint on the decking to make some mint sauce to go with the meat.

Dull and damp here with rain expected anytime in the next few hours and it will be on for most of the day. Temperature is stuck at around 8°c so not warm either. With the schools being off it may prove challenging to get a seat in the coffee shop. Young people seem to enjoy sitting with coffee concoctions that make knickerbocker glories look tame

Reasonably nice here right now....just intermittent light rain, not proper rain, just p you off rain!
8c too.
New mower just arrived so that's this morning sorted. Assuming no bl88dy rain!!!

Re: Weather
A bright and dry start to the day here. We brought the upholstery cleaner home from daughters yesterday so management is going to tackle the benches in the van today. We used ours last time but it didn’t do a very good job leaving patches. I think it is overdue it’s time for the bin.
Maybe if it stays dry I might do a bit more polishing the bits I can get at from the drive side. Hopefully it will be easier than the big slab side I did first.

Re: Weather
Hope the wife enjoys using the new mower Ian!
Rain overnight here and an uninspiring morning, supposed to start raining again by lunchtime. Should really be outside getting on with jobs as we will be away a lot this year but you know those days where you really can't be 8rsed. Got some mail to drive to the post office and some clothes to go in the clothing bank, that and coffee should take care of the morning!
Have a great day all

Moist here this morning, not actually raining as such, just, well, damp.
100% cloud cover, very light breeze.
Going to be 14 allegedly before climate change on Saturday, steaks out of freezer Friday!!!!

Re: Weather
That's the way to mow the lawn! I've had one of those Cleva mowers for a couple of years - excellent. Bought the non-perimiter-wire type last year for areas where I can't put a base station. It works remarkably well.
But today, once more, is not a mower day. Constant drizzle. And so I got soaked when rigging steps and unlocking oil tank for today's delivery. Off to Bath for weekend so did the annual protection of rubber seals and general lubrication yesterday

Good luck with the trip Cymro. Pouring rain here and it's on for the day and high of 7°c so no grass cutting getting done. In fact, it's so miserable outside that I don't think we will go over the door today
Take care folks.

Heavy rain showers over night, milder ,no breeze, in other words it’s ,dreich.
Not a day for grass cutting ( no lawns here) putting the door and roof window in the green house today, if it stops raining .
Have a nice day, enjoy your trip cymro.

Morning all. Looks like a cloudy day ahead but dry until late evening. Still on the cool side, only hitting a high of 7°c. Shopping day again (seems like it was only yesterday we went last ), the hunt for extra large free range eggs goes on.
Cheers folks

Pin down when curtains opened, but seems to be easing off now, about 8c, no wind.
Anglian Water had some good news for us last night, the reservoirs are 90% full so no hose pipe bans planned for this year.....
So, it seems, then that water levels are rising after all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Weather
A bright start here but it must have chucked it down during the night because the fountain and bird bath are full. Muttly spent ages mooching round the garden whist I cooked breakfast. He likes damp gardens but won’t walk through puddles.
The patchy polishing on the van looks a lot better now it’s been rained on and it’s going to stay that way until I get the energy to re do it. The next job is to take the dead lock off and re paint it. It looks like it’s galvanized metal so it will need etch primer. It has been painted a few years ago but it was a quick bodge with smooth Hamerite hence the paint pealing off.
Recently management painted the table on the decking with Rustolium paint. It’s cheaper than Hamerite and has lasted longer. I might try that this time.

Re: Weather
Morning all,
Nice sunny start to the day, only 6 degrees but no rain forecast. Weather was horrible driving up the M6/74 yesterday, heavy rain for most of the way.
Couple of things to do today but nothing too taxing.
Take care.

Heavy rain overnight. Nice and sunny here at the moment, 9° rising to 14. Forecasts say high chance of rain this afternoon. Shopping day , so need to get that done this morning before that rain comes.

Dry overnight , thick sea fret/har rolling in as we walked back from our dawn walk, still overcast and cool.
Green house erected , don’t think I could do it as a full time job.
Have a nice day.

What a night! It absolutely hammered it down - real monsoon. Woke me up, to have a look. Road like a river.
Sunny intervals now, but more hosepipe weather forecast. When will it end? I now accept that the weather is changing, although whether that's climate I'm unsure. After all, the Ice Ages came, and went.

BB first, was the "glass" in your new greenhouse, actual glass or polycarbonate? Just out of interest?

As a simple engineer, I understand that every molecule of water that has ever been on this planet is still here, no more, no less. So, it's a simple fact of nature that Wales gets most of it!!!! . Then the far west!! And, it seems, even here!
And, it occurs to me we're coming through Wales later this month! En route to a potentially even wetter place. Ireland!
Shot in foot, again!

Polycarbonate Ian,didn’t want a glass one this time, had a glass one in Saline Fife , the frame seems to be very sturdy, see how the poly stands up to the winds forecasted for over the weekend.IanH wrote:BB first, was the "glass" in your new greenhouse, actual glass or polycarbonate? Re: Weather
Thought it would be, I do a bit of glass work, getting harder to get "greenhouse" glass now. Polycarbonate is a far better option imho, effectively bullet proof!
Glass I now use most is from picture clip frames, also good for me as only 1.8mm thick, greenhouse is 3mm. Also easier to cut especially complex shapes!
Like the wee bit with the brass strips on here...
Wee robot still cutting away, even on wet grass......
