Hope the show.s go well BB.
Yes, blustery and wet overnight but 6°c and becoming more dry as the morning goes on. Should get a bit of sunshine too which always helps to lighten the mood. Shopping day for us.

Re: Weather
Car and van frozen over this morning although it's already 4° but only rising to 8 today, sunshine hopefully will clear frost quickly as car needs to go for repair.

Re: Weather
New one on me that Chris, hadn't heard of it till now, thanks.
Having lived in Tickhill and trained at Finningley and horse riding at the racecourse, I must have tried hard to miss this one!
Glorious day here much warmer, no frost this morning, nice walk down to the weekly market...

Re: Weather
Same for me, having lived in Retford for twenty years, being based in Doncaster for many of those, building a temporary rail station for the Finningley air show every year and regularly having lunch parked at the end of one of the Lincolnshire RAF bases, I cant imagine how I've missed it.
PS: Just found out that it didn't open on that site till 1999. I was actually based back in Doncaster from 1997 to 2002 but spent most of my working time in Berkshire/London.
Below is me on car roof at Finningley sometime late 80's I think:

Re: Weather
VX2300 GLS - I'd had it about 15 years at the time. It hadn't done a lot of miles as most long distance trips used rail staff travel card. A friend had done a major body refurb but by then the rust was getting back in charge.
With the exception of a VW Passat Estate for a couple of years I was exclusively Vauxhall from 1973 to 2020, Dad was stores manager in a Vauxhall main dealer from the inception after WW2 till he retired.
I went up through the 24 valve 3l Senator (wicked) to a series of 3.2l Omega Elites; at that time I also had a BMW 5 series as a company car but not allowed to use it for leisure (still having free rail travel) both good cars but I wouldn't have paid the third extra for the BMW.
When the Insignia came out in 2009 got the 2.8l V6 4WD Elite, fastest car I've owned but looked bog standard from the outside.
Oh - its nice and sunny here but a bit nippy.

Re: Weather
Many years ago our area manager had Senator. One day he got pulled up by police. Wound window down, police asked is this a 3.0ltr Senator sir? Yes said area manager. Police answered 'same as mine but there's must be something different about yours , is yours automatic? ' Yes said my manager. ' Still can't figure out what's different with mine ' said policeman. Then it clicked.... ' I know what's different, mine has a speedometer, obviously yours doesn't '.

It was one of the first production cars with a digital speedometer.
A police Senator dropped off the A1 to follow me on the Worksop - Retford route, a straight 2 miles to Babworth, I was keen to get home late at night but fortunately saw him drop in behind me.

Re: Weather
Welcome back GH, you don't want to get too used to the sunny weather stuff
Brisk cold wind blowing with a little precipitation mixed in. Dull and cloudy, the gauge says 6°c but it feels much colder outside. Still doing bits and pieces around the house, so keeping busy.
Take it easy

Welcome back GH, early start in the van down to Hornsea, bitterly cold wind despite the forecasters predicting + 10 warm day.
Picked up some good bargains at the Freeport.
Have a nice evening.

Re: Weather
8degrees and overcast but no wind so feels pleasant out.
Concert tonight so three hour rehearsal this afternoon, quick turnaround at teatime then in to penguin suit and play it all again tonight. Venue is Reid Hall in Forfar, was used as vaccination centre for town until just before Christmas. Tonight is official reopening following a refurb so we have been told lots of Council bigwigs will be present to help "celebrate"
Have a good day

8°c too down here in weegeeland and dry now after overnight rain. Pretty cloudy but the forecast suggests it getting a bit warmer with some clear spells later.
Good luck with the concert, hope it goes well. Just thinking that the closest I got to a live musical performance when I was small was when the ragman came round on his horse and cart

Hope it all goes well Bilbo....
Good to be back despite a great trip away, 10 degrees and dry down here, time to get back to the pressure washing but have to ask permission as we have a hose pipe ban! Being away was wonderful, hot, idyllic locations but was I any happier than in the motorhome? Probably not. Made me realise the value of our hobby, had thought about selling but decided not at the moment unless I fail the upcoming HGV medical.
Have a great day all.

10 degrees and sunny here with the occasional drizzle. Good luck with the gigs BB - quite like the Forfar site, close to the town and right beside the loch.

We’ve been pressure washing our paths, GH, as they were quite slippery. It’s allowed for H&S reasonsgroundhog wrote:Hope it all goes well Bilbo....
