Re: Weather
Another dry cloudy morning, still mild, good walk with Tag earlier.
Feel sorry for the people in Spain caught up the flooding, hope they get help soon.
Have a nice day.

Re: Weather
We've always liked the IoW which is closer for us. It's a bit like stepping back in time. The ferry is relatively expensive but discounted if booked with the site. There is plenty to see and do with a good network of footpaths and you can get to most places by bus if you don't want to drive.Bilbobaggins wrote:...
Starting to think about trips for next year. Management wants to visit open air museum Repair Shop is filmed at, near Chichester so I mentioned excursion to Isle of Wight as foot passengers would be doable, obviously hit a hidden urge and she has taken over planning for first time in about 30 years and is already up to 8 potential days out on the Island so looks like Chichester will now be stop off en route to prolonged stay in Isle of Wight

Re: Weather
Another dull but dry day, high of 13°c later. Guess there might be some pumpkins going cheap in the shops today, not that I'm in the market for one. Take whatever you're up to today folks.

Re: Weather
Despite brisk breeze yesterday ended up having to hang washing in utility room overnight after 7 hours out on the line. Less windy today but rain forecast for later.
Local book of faces page went into meltdown yesterday with people suddenly realising it was Halloween and panicking because they couldn't find pumpkins in there supermarket, following the discussions it appears that by lunchtime the nearest pumpkins to be obtained were either from a farm shop 10 miles outside town or from Dundee. At this point several public spirited citizens started offering to help as they had 'spare' pumpkins they were willing to offer for sale.

Re: Weather
It was a dry night for the kids last night. We have a plastic pumpkin with a candle in it rather than a real one. We put on the bin with the container of sweets.
Since our kids left home we havnt had any callers but last night all the sweets were gone by half seven. There were kids in groups with adults herding them along the avenue.

11 degrees and bright though overcast. Rain forecast for later, no doubt when doing the shopping.
Never seen so many kids out and about as last night, strangely though, none our way, not a one came to the door. Trip to the Vet for sedatives for the hound, as soon as he hears a hint of a firework he's a quivering wreck.....

We seem to be stuck with the same weather, dull and dry at 13°c. Our dog never bothered much with exploding fireworks but the rockets with the high pitched scream had him hiding under the bed

Re: Weather
A brighter and warmer morning here. After breakfast and our walk we are going to fight our way across town and call at Magnum Motorhomes. I am thinking of fitting an angled plug to one of the hook up leads. The normal one catches on next doors hedge when plugged in over the winter.
Yesterday management dropped me off to pick up the van. We came home different ways. It took her half an hour longer than me because she got trapped in road works. Weather provided its easier to walk to places locally. The bus times are dependent on were they are digging something up.

Re: Weather
Forecast was for warm sunny day so told management last night it would be a good drying day for washing. Heading for noon and still great, overcast and drizzling. Bit disappointing.
Spoke to garage door man yesterday, replacement control unit finally arrived from Germany. He will come next Wednesday to fit it. Hopefully six months after door stopped working electrically it will be fixed. First six weeks delay was due to holidays, but delays since July have been waiting for parts from Germany, can't help but wonder if delays would have been less without Brexit

No change here, still dull, damp and 12°c. It was pretty quiet last night, perhaps it will all "go off" tonight. Haircut day for me, where's matron with the sedatives

Re: Weather
Cloudless sky, no wind mild, all in all a nice day in prospect for November.
Tony, I haven't been to barber or hairdresser for 30 years, quick run over the lot every couple of weeks with electric hair trimmer, takes under 10 minutes. No barber bills and no need to buy shampoo either.

Re: Weather
I bought myself a hair trimmer during lockdown when I couldn’t get to a barber. I haven’t been to a barber since. It’s the best bit of kit I have ever bought which has paid for itself over and over again!Bilbobaggins wrote:Cloudless sky, no wind mild, all in all a nice day in prospect for November.

Dull, dismal, drizzly, dreich and any other descriptive word starting with D you can think of today.
Mild at 12 degrees but not nice - one of those days if you dress for the temperature you get wet from the outside in and if you dress for the drizzle you get wet from inside out.

Me neither, my wife cuts my hair with an electric trimmer. I always need to remember not to fall out with her on haircut day

No 3 all over and I do it myself. Quick and easy. Longer or shorter hair length combs can be used. I use mine about once a month usually before a motorhome trip. I have discovered shorter hair = lower shower gel and water usage and no need for a hair brush. Can't remember when I last used hair shampoo.

Another grey and chilly day here. It’s got to the time of year to have my thicker jumper on in the workshop even with the heater on for the first half an hour.
Management was watching the Paddington film when I came. Rather fitting considering she made marmalade topped cake yesterday.

Another overcast morning but it feels warmer. After muttly has had his walk we have to be out with jobs and shopping to do so we are having breakfast at one of the pubs. Not the most inspiring places for breakfast but sometimes we can’t be bothered making breakfast.

Another grey drizzly morning, contrary to forecast.
Had rump steak for dinner last night, well seasoned with salt and pepper and basted in butter. Left the residue in frying pan, so breakfast was mushrooms fried in the panserved on wholemeal toast. As a kid used to just drop bread into pan to soak up flavours. happy days
