Re: Weather
The rain has finally arrived and on for most of the morning. Might dry up this afternoon but academic as it's dull and cold still. Shopping day so I might get a heat in the supermarkets.

Our van doesn't have steadies fitted but could really have benefitted from them today at Old Hartley.

Re: Weather
A bright start this morning but by the time posty arrived it was raining hence the parcel I waiting for was a bit soggy. Fortunately it’s a length of brass bar so it wasn’t spoilt.
I think RAF Coningsby have been saving up for fuel because we had a C130 heading east followed by a fly past of their jets heading north during our walk. Maybe because of the low cloud they seemed noisier than normal.
When RAF Binbrook was open there Lightnings return flight path was over our house. Occasionally our washing used to smell of jet fuel.

Re: Weather
It was a bit wet and windy last night. One of managements tall pot plants was tipped over this morning so it is time move the pots against the wall and take the hanging baskets down.
My repairs to the workshop roof were well timed if the weather is heading towards winter. I remember my mate working on his Landrover in a barn with a brolly over him. When I was in the workshop yesterday afternoon I put the heater on low for the first time.

Re: Weather
At about 9 this morning the wind at Old Hartley dropped from 50mph to 25mph, it had been constantly at 50 for almost 36 hours and was a very unpleasant experience in our van that doesn't have steadies.
Despite at being a very lovely location, I very much doubt we will be back to risk a similar experience.
Tomorrows stop over at Boroughbridge has been cancelled as the site is flooded and we are due at West Midlands Showground, Shrewsbury middle next week - no flood warnings yet but.....

Sunny one minute and chucking it down the next, been like it all day.
Shrewsbury showground often floods so I'm not holding my breath.

Clear sky overnight so blinking cold this morning, clouding over now so it'll hit 12°c later. Chance of some rain this afternoon with showers in the forecast. Tidied up a couple of cupboards containing "my" important stuff yesterday. Funny the things you find, like items you don't remember buying

Re: Weather
It looks like the wet and windy weather has eased here with a bright and dry morning. The palm trees in our garden have dumped their fonds during the windy spell so it looks like more garden clearing whilst we can.
Muttly didn’t move when I opened the door first thing preferring to enjoy the patch of sun in the front room. Typically he spent most of yesterday’s walk dodging the puddles during our ambles.
One of his mates had her rain jacket with a hood. When we were kids I don’t remember dogs wearing jackets. Our first collie had a bit of rope rather than a lead or a harness.

Morning folks,
After a torrid couple of months with health issues finally feel ok enough to join in again.
Weather is bright this morning though a touch overcast. Bit of shopping to do for things I forgot to pick up last night then it will be the rest of the day trying to catch up with the posts I've missed (no where did I put my glasses ?!?!?!?!)

Re: Weather
I got our garden cleared as planned this morning but I hadn’t reconned on this afternoons garden escapade.
Next door had two 30 ft high trees at the end of their garden. One has not looked well for a while and it was going to be cut down. Last weeks high wind had finished it off and it was leaning towards our wall, shed and workshop. At the end of our gardens there is a compound with new Toyota cars in it.
Between myself and next door we took it down a section at a time. Ivy was entangled in it making the limbs tangled together. I never seen ivy so thick but one us up a ladder and the other on rope it came down in manageable pieces.
Considering the storms other people have had we were lucky to get it down before it caused any damage.

Re: Weather
Welcome back Dave, I wouldn't bother catching up as there been not much happening
Yesterday's forecast was spot on for a change. Today's prediction is for it to be cloudy all day and 12°c but with no rain.......not sure about that. My SiL is over from Canada and we are all going out for lunch, they've picked a garden centre to meet. What a great idea, a garden centre on a dull Sunday at lunchtime, should be quiet

Thanks for the welcome back.
Dull this morning and 11 degrees but dry at the moment. Not got anything planned for today but no doubt the Boss will think of something
Take care and enjoy the garden centre Tony.

Re: Weather
Yes, our heating went back on a couple of days ago too. Apparently it's a bank holiday here today Although we're likely to get rain this afternoon, it does seem like an improving picture over the rest of the week around here.
