Re: Weather
Morning folks, pouring here with little chance of it changing until late afternoon. Never mind, going to the dentist so that'll cheer me up At least it's still mild.
Take care all

Don't worry about GH Tinny, He'll have found a source of these locally till he gets back to his Ginsters!!!!

Re: Weather
A grey damp start here but nothing planned for today. After our visitor yesterday we all need a quiet day. She is a lovely little girl but she is like a tornado. We told her to be gentle with muttly because he is old but he was glad when she went home. At one point all the cushions were on the floor and she was using them as stepping stones because she was a frog like the one in her book.

There are massive links between Jamaica and Cornwall and probably not something we should be proud of today but the Jamaican Pattie bears about as much resemblance to a proper Cornish Pasty as G******* doIanH wrote:About to begin here in the Far East.

Re: Weather
Good quality continuous but not flood like rain here still.
Now renting the van as a test centre for a blotting paper company, currently could be used for reference zero
Just interrogated my "Jamaican" neighbour (born and bred Bradford) re this, she'd never heard of a Cornish pasty and seemed unsure re Cornwall!! Love her dearly (Ex Army!)

Re: Weather
Yes, bit of a conflict with the forecasts today, currently it's sunny with very little cloud and Google says it willstay that way all day. BBC forecast is saying frequent showers and snow on higher ground Think I'll need to hang a bit of seaweed out Shopping day anyhow so it matters little, too busy worrying and teabags and the jnternational price of cocoa beans
Take care folks

Re: Weather
I thought the wet weather had passed because it was dry on our evening walk but it’s grey and wet again this morning. I will put muttlies towel on the radiator ready for our return.
Management is off to see the dentist this morning. A quality street victim yesterday, not the penny toffee she said. When she phoned them they had a cancelation for today. It’s only a filling that’s come out but it will be more comfortable to get it sorted.

Re: Weather
After our damp walk things got busy and expensive here. Managements visit to the dentist will need a crown rather than just a filling. One pair of her new glasses are ready. Thinks me because it’s grey and wet it will be her sun glasses.
As it turned out they had three pairs ready for her.Her normal ones and sun glasses but not the third pair. I hope they figure out who the other ones are for.
No matter it’s stopped raining so I will migrate to the workshop to recover from the financial hole in our balance.

Re: Weather
It was Google 1 BBC 0 yesterday, quite a pleasant day although it turned very cold in tge afternoon. Difference of opinion again today, Google says the early rain will stop to leave it dry until late afternoon whilst the beeb predict rain all day
Yesterday's shopping was uneventful but, as much as I try to ignore the increased prices, there's always something that catches my eye and I think "that's outrageous". Is there such a thing as blinkers for shoppers
Take care folks

A bright and dry start to the day .Maybe muttly would like a longer walk. He sulked until we turned back yesterday in the rain.
After yesterdays dent in our finances I had a productive afternoon in the workshop. Part of my latest project required a couple of coach bolts making. That dosnt sound a big deal apart from the threads being 8BA. From my dads clock making I found his stock of nuts and bolts. Some of those make 8 BA look quite big. Today I will find something bigger to make.

Re: Weather
I still have a box with some BSF, Whitworth and BA nuts and bolts, small electric appliances tended to use BA. I really should just turf them out because I can't remember the last time anything useful came out tge box
Google forecast changed to rain most of the day so it's now 1-1

Re: Weather
My wife doesn't agree, but its always worth keeping a selection of bits and bobs.
Last week I wanted to measure the voltage on the pins in the plug of an Avtex TV power supply. I needed a tiny single pin socket that was insulated but only thinly.
I went through all my old leads, plugs and sockets (that I admit are largely totally redundant) but found exactly what I needed by cutting one of the motor connection wires from an electronic speed controller for a mini rc helicopter that I had saved when the heli was scrapped.

The Met Office used to have a base on a former RAF station in Plymouth. They had a notice in the office “If all else fails, look out of the window”. I believe they had a piece of seaweed as well.
My apology if I’ve posted that before.

Re: Weather
Quite fresh this morning. 6 degrees but feels a touch cooler, not cold but fresh. Sunny at the moment with the occasional drop or 2 of rain (wouldn't call it a shower (yet.)
Shopping day today so we shall see what sort of dent that makes to my bank balance. It's charging for bags which gets my goat. I was under the impression that the charge was introduced in an attempt to reduce the use of single use PLASTIC carrier bags, you now get charged 10p for a paper bag...profiteering?

Re: Weather
When we got new Dennis buses about ten to fifteen years ago the retarder control boxes had contacts in them that used to burn out. They were held in the BA screws. The control boxes were made in the uk.
The only two people in the workshop that had BA sockets were myself and the older electrician. The other fitters used 3/8 square drive metric sockets and chewed up or snapped off the bolt heads.

Re: Weather
Been surprisingly nice here today, even had the van door open most of it.
Re shopping bags....(and this is true!)
Friend and ex colleague went to a wine tasting at his local Waitrose. On leaving, he dropped down dead, V sad but there's worse ways I suppose.
Tragic of course, but the real tragedy transpired that he'd just bought a Waitrose bag for life!!
(True story. But knowing him well, he'd have seen the funny side too,)

Bit of frost this morning, don't think it will last long as the sun comes up. Should stay mostly dry with sunny spell and broken cloud. If it stays this way I have a leaky gutter to attend to (under orders )
Take it easy folks.
