Re: Weather
I have strong memories of Cleethorpes, on the railway line just outside the station in a January mid 80's.
The line to Grimsby had been shut for a week whilst the track and signalling were prepared for a new High Speed train service direct from Cleethorpes to Kings Cross. It was due to open on the Monday morning. On Saturday evening the civil engineers piled a load of old sleepers onto the new cable route and set fire to them burning through every new signalling and communication cable.
We worked a solid 24hrs to get everything working again and I've never been so cold before or since.

Re: Weather
I remember the 125,s coming into Cleethorpes in the evenings. I used to take our son to stand on the footbridge at Slugits Lane near my in-laws house.
They have threatened to re start the direct line to London several times but hasn’t come to anything yet.

Re: Weather
After the great views of Ben Lomond on Monday, you would be lucky to see the end of your street in the mizzle yesterday. Cold this morning but the wind direction is allegedly changing to a westerly so getting up to 11°c this afternoon. Wet day ahead with very little respite from the rain today. Might go out for lunch, just to get a change of scenery, decisions, decisions
Take care folks

Re: Weather
Foggy here, not serious fog but still....foggy.
Therefore zero wind, again, about 6c
Looks like, according to Carol, we'll have a dry day to get to Stamford then off to the pubstop.
Re lunch Tony, avoid skinheads on a raft!

Re: Weather
It is only 20 degrees colder than when I woke up yesterday, hardly noticeable really, or, was it yesterday or the day before I can't remember.
Cornwall is grey, overcast and light mizzzle, nice to be home none the less.
Have a great day all

Morning all,
5 degrees and overcast this morning and not supposed to get much warmer. Should be some sunny intervals later on so might warm up more than forecast.
Take care.

Welcome back GH, you've not missed much
Very windy last night strong gusts rattling anything that moves. Showers this morning, they may pass through but there's more on the way this afternoon. High of 8°c so staying on the cool side. Shopping day so getting into the right frame of mind by looking grumpy.............whad'y mean, what's new?
Take care folks

Re: Weather
An overcast start to the day that has turned colder as the day went on. We need this weekend away to recover from managements visit to the dentist. What should have been a filling turned into a crown costing over £300. Having had two crowns when I was at school after the bus ran into a coal truck I sympathize with her.
After I packed the shopping in the van Muttly was skittish and couldn’t settle until we sat down for lunch. Considering his past he soon learnt what it means when we pack the van. Hopefully we will get a chance to walk a bit if the weather holds off at some time this weekend.

Stamford ish to here today, pm.
Pee'd down the whole way and amount of standing water was horrendous. Been in less water in a boat!!
Amazing to see the extent of flooding, especially in the Fens.

A dry bright start here but I think we will be looking at some rain before we get to Norfolk. Muttly stood and watched me do breakfast. He keeps looking at the door but won’t go up the garden so we will have a short walk before we set off.

Nice and sunny this morning but cold, -1 degree. To cloud over later, just in time for the weekly shopping trip, elbow pads looked out already

Frost and 0°c here but dry. The outlook is for it to get cloudy and nudge up to 5 or 6° later with no rain expected until late afternoon/evening. No plans for today so let's see what the day brings.

Re: Weather
It’s certainly a day of changes. As we got top the top of the wolds at Caistor the rain and gusty wind started. All the way down to Horncastle the puddles were huge and full of muddy yuk washed off the fields.
I was expecting to be battling the wind along the New York straight but it started to calm down. We are at Sutton Bridge having lunch and the sun is out. Me and muttly had a stroll whilst management put the kettle on.

Re: Weather
Been raining overnight but, although overcast, should dry up for a while before more wet stuff later this afternoon. Although it was quite bright yesterday, it was bitterly cold outside. The forecast is for it to get up to 6°c but there's still a chill in the air.
Take care folks.

Re: Weather
Morning Tony,
Think it's going to be one of those days today, changing from sunny to dull to rain and back to sunny again every 10 minutes or so, it's a kind of bright cloud just now. Still a bit chilly at 3 degrees.
