Re: Weather
Morning Boaby, much more quiet day after the wild winds of yesterday. Dry with broken cloud today but a bit cooler at 6°c rising by a couple of degrees later. Out for coffee this morning and an opportunity to put the world to rights
Take care folks

Atrocious weather here today, very blustery and non-stop pouring rain so far. Not a day to go anywhere.

Re: Weather
Having had my front roof vent blow off in a sideways v strong gust yesterday, and a quick fix to leak proof it, we had, of course, some of our heaviest rain for months last night!!
Bone dry this morning so a better fix will be done till the new one arrives soon, I hope.
MOT tomorrow as well..it never rains but it pours springs to mind!!!

Re: Weather
That's a sore one Ian. Stayed dry yesterday but the wind got up going into the evening. This morning we have a light covering of snow but it looks like it will be gone soon as the temperature gets up to around 5°c. Cloudy with a few sunny breaks expected today and a drop to -6° overnight. We might go out somewhere for lunch to try out my wife's new "old" car.

Re: Weather
A bright but chilly start today. The weather lady on the telly was talking about snow on its way in some hilly areas. It is February so that’s no surprise really. My dad used to tell me about the snow in West Yorkshire February 55 when I was born. His Fordson van had no heater and he had to reverse up a hill because it had better traction in the snow being lower geared.
I hope we are better equipped to deal with snow these days but I hope any of having to travel are safe.

Re: Weather
Interesting weather contrasts...... beautiful day in central yesterday and took an afternoon circular jaunt around rural Perthshire. Frosty overnight and a crystal clear morning with loads of sunshine and not a cloud in the sky.

Re: Weather
2° , real feel -5. According to weather app its snowing now and for next 4 hours, we'll it's pouring rain, Amber warning for snow and ice. Schools all closed due to the forecast of snow, pathetic , if it does snow it couldn't stick as everywhere is soaking wet.

Still p'in down, but the gloom didn't spread to the MOT guy, all passed, no advisories!
Also asked them to sample the gearbox oil for water contamination, a problem on these, all clean, but he changed it anyway!!

Re: Weather
A yuk day here starting with sleet and windy developing into rain. It was a short walk but we both got soaked so no plans to anything seemed a good idea. Late morning our son appeared looking for a favor. He wanted to take some junk to the recycling centre.
The guys that work in those places are something special. Amongst his junk was a mop and brush. Because they had metal handles the heads had to be separated. The heads going in general waste the handles going in metal waste. It’s not surprising there’s so much fly tipping.

Well it did snow for an hour, quickly turned to sleet and then rain. Council getting loads of stick for closing schools, parents having to take time of work etc.Paulmold wrote:2° , real feel -5. Still 2° but warming to 8 tomorrow and over weekend.

Re: Weather
Got a bit damp with strong winds yesterday, much the same today. 3°c and dry just now but there's a high chance of rain on this side ofvthe country after lunchtime with the north and east getting some snow. Got to nip out for a few things we couldn't at the shops yesterday, seems deliveries were late
Take care folks

Re: Weather
Morning folks,
Exactly the same as Tony here, dull, chilly and due to rain later. Shopping day today so I'll need to try and judge the time better than last week, landed right at the time the school got out and was surrounded by the little darlings...

Re: Weather
I think snow would be preferable to the yuk day here. It was damp with a chilly mist first thing. As the day has gone on it’s varied from misty to rainy off and on all day.
After a bit of a top up shop, dinners for muttly, collecting medication and paint for managements latest project I managed some workshop time. It’s been a while since I was in there but I managed a couple of hours.
Considering the weather the heater didn’t trip on so it must be warmer. Considering there’s no insulation in there it’s not difficult to keep it warm. My workshop at the other house cost me a fortune to insulate and heat. With reduced hours in the workshop now I couldn’t justify the extra cost of insulation this time. The fan heater with a thermostat is enough.

Re: Weather
Dry this morning, fitted new roof vent. Then it poured!! So free leak test!
Went out in car pm. Nice and dry, got back, car in garage, don't like putting it away wet. Closed garage door, poured down again!!
Wish life was always thus!
