Re: Weather
2° now and thawing nicely in the brilliant sunshine. Cleared drive to get car out and do the shopping that we would normally have done yesterday. Expect roads will be skating rinks tonight as we head to -7.
On the plus side, snow really cleans the car well.

Re: Weather
Back home to blue skies and sunshine, no snow no rain no slush, 2 days at home then move in to the van on the drive for 4 days whilst the bathroom is adapted for Christine

Re: Weather
Snow cleared by 9, after a visit to the vets with Tag we had a nice walk down the south beach towards Wilsthorpe ( Paul knows the area).
A few snow flurries on the way back in between the sunny periods, town was busy.
Glad your back home safely Chris.

Re: Weather
No joking Tony, that's a big problem for me too. So much so that wherever we now go we photograph a place name within that set of pics just to remind us!!

Re: Weather
Lovely clear blue sky here but as well but I think considerably colder. I managed an afternoon in the workshop with the heater on low and the sun shining through the windows. We seem to have missed another days bad weather again but I think it will be cold tonight on our walk.

I wasn't either, no problem with stuff from @2000 when I got my first digital camera (a 1mp Olympus) but before that it was all 35mm. We were skint for long periods so I was "careful" with film, it was my job to record stuff but often forgot (LB Syndrome ). The old joke was a roll of film with Christmas at both ends and holidays in between
Good idea about place names, photographing town name boards, map guides or signs at tourist attractions is one of the things I do for the same reason.

Re: Weather
I still have my Zenit TTL stashed away somewhere. Also when I cleared my fathers belongings I found his Roli Compact and a few rolls of 110 black and white and 35 mm film. He had several Zenit cameras and a Bolex cine camera when he had his audiovisual business.
I bought a Canon 350 digital camera to take on one of our trips to Australia and still find it works for me.

I started off with a Zenit TTL then got a Canon AE1 which is still knocking about somewheresomewhere. Only ever use my Sony A200 now but I just about dropped when I saw the price of lenses....

Re: Weather
I bought the Canon second hand to see iff I got on with a digital camera. The difference in the results made me stick with it and treat to myself a long lens.
The price of the equivalent Canon now I can’t justify buying a newer one and I look in London Camera Exchange every time we go to Lincoln. Maybe something more compact next time.

Re: Weather
Bit frosty and -1°c this morning, not as cold as predicted but cold enough, thank you very much. Light cloud cover is probably keeping the Arctic blast at bay for now..
I just sold my Canon A1, AE1 and assorted lenses to a shop in Yorkshire that deals in analogue camera equipment. Sorry to part with it but it was sitting in a cupboard unused for years (and years ). I still have a Canon 350 and 550, both of which are worth buttons in p/e For a significant birthday, my very generous wife bought me a Canon mirrorless SLR and zoom lens. After years of humphing a heavy camera bag, its all I carry now.
Take care all

Re: Weather
A bright but frosty morning here. Muttly wasn’t for getting up this morning so his walk can wait until we have had breakfast.
Talking of Zenit cameras reminded me how solid they were. Whilst walking in Scotland with my father the strap broke on his causing it to drop on the road. The body was slightly marked but the camera still worked until he swapped to the Roli Compact I found in his belongings.

Re: Weather
Canon EOS 450D and an old Pentax ME 35mm here, Pentax has been in the drawer for years and sometimes use the Canon if we are away in the van but find these things too bulky. Both have telephoto lenses. If I sell them they will not be worth anything I suspect, so, may donate them to the local University which runs a photographic course. Usually use my Huawei phone which seems to be have an adequate camera for our purposes.
8 degrees down here this morning, overcast and drizzly though, not really a day for getting out and about or doing much outside. Hopefully it will brighten up later.
Have a great day all
