Re: Weather
Bon voyage GH, hope you both have a great time away.
Yesterday turned out better than the forecast, we had a few short showers but there were quite long spells of sunshine. Took our guests to the airport in the evening (40 minutes there and back) so we got our house back as well
Light rain this morning and quite overcast, should clear later but it's become much cooler.. Hope this is not the end of our summer, still got a few trips on the cards

Re: Weather
Pembrokeshire was featured on breakfast TV this morning, as we're within the hosepipe ban area, for the first time in 30 years.
I had to laugh because the lady being interviewed on her allotment, put an umbrella up as she was picking a few raspberries, with light rain falling for the first time in a month or so.
We got slightly damp walking across Morrisons car park, but probably less than 1mm fell.
I'm sure it didn't top up the reservoir.

Much more comfortable with the wee sea breeze coming in the back patio doors, we had visitors to Tony, with 4 legs and prickly. Nice to get the house back eh.

Have a great trip, GH. If you're turning left out of Roscoff, the Granit Rose coast is worth a visit (as Gromit recommended to me some years ago).

Thanks all sitting in Plymouth docks as ferry running two hours late. People are moaning but they should try sitting in Vancouver Airport waiting for 10 hours for a flight.
Lovely and sunny van is so comfortable who cares.
Heading for Plouvorn by the lake if anyone knows that.
Have a great day all

I used to work in the tallish office block overlooking the docks - on the left as you face the sea. We had a terrific view of the Naval ships leaving for the South Atlantic in 1982. Some we saw return battered and bruised, some like the requisitioned Atlantic Conveyor never returned.

Re: Weather
Cool clear dawn sky with the sunrise coming up as we walk along the cliffs at Sewerby, damp under foot, still some dew on the grass.
Enjoy yourself GH, hope you don't get held up anywhere.
Have a nice weekend.

Re: Weather
Sitting having a cuppa watching the rain tipping down, need a large shopping so would rather go now when supermarkets are quiet rather than later when sun forecast but shops busier. Need to go find a coat I guess. Can't remember last time I wore it. Too cloudy here last night to see Aurora Borealis.
Have a good day

Re: Weather
Pouring down here too, as it has been all through night the night. Could however is in charge please note that our garden is now plenty wet, thank you It's also a few degrees cooler during the day and and quite a few degrees cooler at night. It should improve as the day goes on but we have no plans to go out, plenty of things to do indoors.

Re: Weather
A lovely bright day with a cooling breeze here at Shuttleworth. It should be nice for the Proms tonight but I think we might take a blanket with us. My knees felt cold and stiff last night by the end of the evening sitting out. I feel like I aged 10 years whilst I had covid and it’s taking some shifting. No matter some alcohol with the picnic will help.

I'll let Tag know what he's missing GH, fortunately we have a variety of walks he can be taken, he loves Sewerby woods and the cliff tops.
Warm and sunny all day here, although to windy for an outside BBQ, did the steaks under the grill.
Have a great time GH.

Re: Weather
Rain cleared about lunchtime yesterday and it turned into a great drying day with sunshine and a brisk breeze. It was so cold though that I stuck my fleece on. Looks like a similar day ahead, dry, cool and windy. Our local sparrowhawk came into the garden for a feed yesterday, it got a bit of a surprise because the gardener was, out of sight, doing some pruning. She kindly requested it to leave

Re: Weather
It was a nice day here at Lyndon Top. Warm with a gentle breeze until tea time when it rained quite hard until about half six.
Now there are lots of Pied Wagtails pecking at the grass. The rain must have brought the wiggies out.

Now in Chateaubriand in Pays de Loire, escaping the wet weather around it is 24 and sunny here but not so good on the coast
Nice aire but why do we always get the frog with the noisy television and banging around Park next to us when the rest of the place is empty
People are being very friendly with UK on the van half of them think we are from Ukraine.

Re: Weather
Pretty much the same over here on the West although the cloud does appear to be breaking a little so we might get some sun before the next lot of rain. It is still on the cool side though at 16°c..
Thanks for the good wishes folks, hopefully just a routine issue but I'll find out in due course. Glad you're getting a bit of decent weather GH, love Chateaubriand. Not the place though, never been

In Obersdorf, Bavaria a few weeks ago an old German guy came up to us and was most sincere and said how sorry he was re the war! Well, I had lots of options for a reply there but constrained myself!groundhog wrote:Hope it went well Tony.

Asked what he meant and then the thinks bubble burst! He'd been looking at UK on our (correct) number plate and thought we were Ukranian!! I pointed out there was a clue in the Union Flag, he laughed and went away!!
BTW to keep within the thread it hasn't rained here, realistically at all, in all of July and August. Long term forecast (usually a work of fiction), says quite a lot in the PM of the day we set off to Portsmouth and Spain!
