Re: Weather
Clear cool dawn,no breeze, nice walk out with Tag to watch the sunrise, clearing old dead bushes from half tub whiskey barrels , lots of wee used nests amongst the foliage.
Agree with Ian, Swallow and Marrin wings usually lay along side there tail, Swifts sometimes cross over the tail,as in the photo GH took, we have a few young Swifts here, looks like the Adults have taken to the wind .
Have a nice day,remember,stay cool.

Re: Weather
Another bright start to the day with light cloud, good day for moving up the coast. Sure the roads will be quiet on a sunny Saturday

Bright start today in Yorkshire, after a somewhat showery (heavy at times) day yesterday.
The hedge behind is full of goldcrest, never seen one before, boy are they tiny.

Re: Weather
No surprise given reports from Tony and Paul that the bit in-between is also sunny and bright.
After visit to lighthouse yesterday ended up at Tynemouth priory, a lovely and interesting site. Managed to dodge two very heavy showers and stay dry.
No firm plans today but Belsay Hall might fit the bill for afternoon walk and cuppa. Back home tomorrow.
Enjoy your weekend whatever your plans

Re: Weather
Thanks for the bird confirmation guys, thought it probably was a swift but we don't get many of them down here, used to see loads when we lived in Sussex. Quite a few pairs of goldcrests though, one feeding a baby on the yard gates this morning, really cute.
Another lovely sunny morning, just been out to find some frozen chips, what is going on visited three different shops before we could find any. Looks like the weather is set fair now for a while so best get out and enjoy it and carry on with a few more jobs, van is now nearly finished its "C" check ( IanH will understand) and ready for the French trip in a couple of weeks.
Have a great day all

Re: Weather
Just another day in paradise. Staying in our little enclosure while the people outside rush around like headless chickens, fighting for parking spaces and that little patch of sand on the beach.
Must be getting old but a comfy sunbed and a fridge full of cold drinks appeal rather more these days!

Re: Weather
No problem staying cool on the east coast of Scotland, it's overcast with a brisk wind blowing this morning. Nevertheless, we'll get out for a walk somewhere later. So far the only wildlife are "beep" gulls

Another warm start here but hopefully we can get the front hedge cut before it gets too warm. Muttly is not good with warm weather with his double coat. He is lying in the sun waiting for his walk after breakfast.

Re: Weather
We got out for a walk yesterday but the strong gusts of wind made some of it quite tricky. This morning there is a light breeze and wall to wall blue sky. What a difference.
Meant to say for you plane buffs, we were overflown by a very large, low flying plane on Saturday. I was alerted by a low growl in the sky, it looked (from asking Mr G ) like an Atlas flying remarkably low. Thought it might be from an air show but there were none on.

Re: Weather
Back in Angus after wonderful week in Northumberland. Pleasant sunny morning with light breeze. Shopping done and house fridge restocked. Time for a seat and a brew before starting to empty and clean the van.
Drive up yesterday was trouble free except for slight delays at usual pinchpoints on Edinburgh bypass and Queensferry Crossing. Found a new spot for nice cuppa and cake..Berwick Garden Centre at East Ord

Re: Weather
Another clear blue sky day to enjoy, this is Falmouth week so loads of events down that way and the red arrows on Wednesday so will be manic.
Just getting ready to head off to Europe now ( no idea where), shows how long it is since we used the van for anything other than days out, went to fill the tank and the frost dump valve was open!
Not sure when we will leave, booked for 19th but all depends if we get a hosepipe ban as the lady that waters when we are away will be unable to do the amount we have with a can
Todays task is to free off the spare wheel carrier under the van just in case we need to get at it.
Have a great day all

Re: Weather
As part of my attempt to conserve energy my default report until the forecast heat wave is over is;
Hot, dry with some sun and cloud, uncomfortably hot night.
Will post if any change.
Take care, enjoy what you are doing and keep hydrated and as cool as possible

Re: Weather
Very hot in Dunbar, a few wispy clouds making no difference whatsoever to the temperature. Had to laugh (as in been there, been done by that ), young woman and her son are occupying a VW camper on the site. She pulled over a picnic table and set up a BBQ. She got out wraps, salad and carefully sliced up some steak to cook. She disappeared (for some wine we learned later), and so did the steak when three gulls descended on the picnic table In case you are wondering, we were too far away to do anything and the happy ending is, she fortunately had more steak

I certainly timed my hedge trimming and odd jobs on the Rienza well yesterday because it’s getting warm already here. They recon another heat wave is due this week. Hopefully it will cool off a bit for our trip at the end of next week.

Re: Weather
20°c here right now so guess we're at the cooler end of the heatwave. Lazy day planned, might go out and get lunch somewhere or might not This is the last week of the school holidays up here so every pitch is taken including a large number of tents.
10 minutes later it's now 22°c

Internet down till 3p.m, nice walk out with Tag before the heat came on ,27 degrees in the shade and much hotter in the sun.
To hot to take Tag out to the beach, plus the beach is packed with tourists.
Have a nice day.

Re: Weather
Got up to 24°c but we had few clouds here and there. It felt very warm so we had lunch at the local garden centre and then sat on our bahookies at the van. It's going to be warmer tomorrow for our trip home so an early start is on the cards.
We get our ice cream fix from Lidl too, a box of six of the things on sticks wrapped in chocolate and nuts. It costs the same for a box as most shops charge for one of the Magnum versions

29C here according to the car. Had to go to a funeral - knew it was going to be a big one (well-known rugby player, and a school friend of mine). About 350 people there - managed to park 45 mins before start - stood sweltering in the sun - but managed at least to get inside the Crem to stand. Stood for total of 2 hours in all. Wonderful singing. Whole service in Welsh. -Boy, was that Carlsberg welcome when I got home - took off the black tie and suit, and reflected that despite my ordeal, I am in a better place....-
Off to London tomorrow for 3 days. It's going to be hot!
