Re: Weather
Thanks Boaby, we had a look at the shop late on yesterday but they had nothing left. See they have put a height barrier up at the beach carpark, I wonder why
Breezy here with a fair amount of cloud, should get up to 21°c later which is ok. Someone said they spotted dolphins here, methinks they had dirty specs

Re: Weather
Bit breezy again this morning although wind did ease off overnight. Comfortable night with temperature heading for 20 degrees already.
Sitting in rotated passenger seat looking out to sea past St Mary's lighthouse while enjoying toast and cuppa.
Have a nice day

Its always breezy there. It used to blow off the sea when I was cycling to school in Whitley Bay and from the land when I was returning home.....

That sums it up nicely Peter, getting windswept whichever side of the van I sit out at seems to come from all directions at once

Yes, don't leave the door open without a bungy or similar holding it securely even if it seems calm at the moment!

They start to bake at 02.30, a tad early ,even for me, the wife likes her rolls, well fired, as Peter says its breezy, Tag and I love the beach, especially at sunrise. I counted 56 Mute swans on the estuary back in May.
Looks like your in for a nice few days Tony.

Re: Weather
We walked into town earlier and reckon there must be at least three or four times that many swans now. We were both surprised to see so many. The beach is terrific here, there were folk kite surfing on it today.
Weather has been ok, warm and windy with occasional light showers. Still managed to BBQ

Re: Weather
Must get myself up to see these unknown Northern lands one of these days, have no idea where you all are but sounds great fun, enjoy! I have been to Newcastle but flew in and two hours later straight out again so guess that doesn't count.
Murky start down here but turned out absolutely glorious this afternoon, gentle westerly wind and lots of hot sunshine, ideal conditions really.....for doing very little. Leaves are falling off the trees way too early so tomorrow will be a couple of hours clear up then may just have to repeat todays job and inspect the inside of the eyelids whilst laying in the sun.
Enjoy your travels all

Re: Weather
Horrible smirry rain on the go this morning but it's starting to clear as I type. Temperature has dropped a little, forecast (rarely correct) is for 19°c later.
It's always nice to get a change of scenery GH and see if the local Aldi, Lidl, B&M or Home Bargains is better than the one at home There must be dolphins here after all, there are police notices all over the place warning folk not to go near them (but still not seen any )

Re: Weather
I seem to have bypassed the coastline of North East England on my travels in the UK, one of these days will get up there to have a look around. We have a new LIDL and ALDI and Home Bargains just opened in Truro, this area seems to be growing rapidly, I am afraid it might spoil the place somewhat. The dolphins put notices up not to go near the police down here
I owe the deer in the picture above an apology, last night Lady G heard a noise outside so I grabbed a spotlight kept by the bed and lo and behold the culprit turned out to be about the biggest badger I have ever seen, I knew they lived in the woods the garden backs on to but didn't know how fast they can run. You could say he saw the light!
Few spots of mizzle overnight, dried up now and hopefully the sun will soon return.

Re: Weather
Got slightly wet while outside servicing the van this morning (polite way of saying emptying the toilet cassette) only rained for a couple of minutes, much less wind than yesterday.
Tried the chippy in Seaton Sluice last night. Foolishly ignored warnings online about portion sizes. Neither management nor I managed to finish it, still delicious.
Off to Beamish today. As management will have her mobility scooter we won't be able to use the trams or buses, expect I will end up walking four or five miles so definitely taking walking poles, especially for walk back up yhe hill to entrance
Have a good day

Re: Weather
Nice dry and bright day with a lovely breeze today. At last I have managed to get the decking and bench re treated. Another DIY job crossed of the never ending list. My knees were bad during my bout of covid so todays antics havnt helped.
I have some stuff we got in Austria to rub on joints. It’s much better than the normal stuff you can get because it last longer. It’s called Murmetier Salbe. It’s meant for sports injuries I believe.

Re: Weather
We saw our first badger a few weeks ago, unfortunately it was impersonating a hedgehog on the A90 south of Stonehaven We walked out to the lighthouse, still no dolphins but we did see a couple of grey seals in the estuary. There were guys fishing with a drag net near the pedestrian bridge, they ran it out 5 or 6 times. The first time a seal leapt out from their net and we thought, lucky escape. That was until it did the same thing several times more, what's the saying about fish in a barrel
Broken cloud all day with a stiff northerly breeze, it's very warm when the sun gets through.

Re: Weather
Nice cool n/w breeze before dawn, ideal for a good walk with Tag, not much of a sunrise due to cloud cover.
Cleaning up the bathroom floor ready for new cushion floor, hellish getting the old adhesive off.
Have a nice day, take care if your traveling.

Re: Weather
Lovely sunny morning over here, a little cloud and the wind has dropped. As well as seeing the grey seal in the estuary, apart from the usual suspects, I spotted Redshank, Golden Plover and Common Sandpipers (I'm just a novice at birding ). Great day for not doing very much, I'm very good at not doing very much

Re: Weather
Another living the dream sort of day, bright sunny warm morning with occasional light clouds in view, quiet morning on the site planned waiting for tide to turn so we can walk out over causeway to St Mary's lighthouse.
Just the thing after exertion at Beamish yesterday.
Have a good day whatever you are doing

Same good "ticks" there Tony, not seen any Golden Plovers for ages, did see lots of Turnstones on the estuary, with a Greenshank amongst them. Enjoy the weather lads.

Re: Weather
Just spent 20 minutes watching relief warden getting his twin axle caravan stuck while trying to get it out of pitch and hooked up to car. Eventually took four of them to dislodge it from grass and get to angle where car could be attached, As this was on pitch at exit beside utilities block by the time they cleared it the queue of cars, caravans and motorhomes trying to leave the site was right down the hill.
Not surprised he got stuck, but very impressed how they got out of situation. Did see a tag axle Moho arrive the other day the departed following discussion with wardens.

Re: Weather
Good to know so many are away and having a great time, enjoy everyone.
Early shop it was quite warm but a little cloudy, sun is out now and the rest of the day is looking lovely. Off to the osteopaths for a tune up in a few minutes then it will have to be a pasty for lunch.
Someone has to do it.
Have a great day all

Re: Weather
I applaud any reason to have a pasty
Boaby, I can recognise a lot of birds but just as many mean nothing to me. I rely on getting image (some better than others ) of them on camera to check later in my wildlife book.
The bright start here nosedived with lots of cloud and a cold wind blowing. We had a decent walk before having a seat outside the van. We gave up because of the cold, put the chairs away and......the sun came out again
