Re: Weather
Had to leave home at 7.30 am to put the van in for service and MOT. Fingers crossed. Dry and still relatively warm. Had to get the bus home (and horrors too early for my bus pass so had to pay!) by which time it had started to rain.
As a slightly humorous aside. The place where I left the van is on a light industrial estate. It involved a 20 mins walk to get the bus. It’s an area I rarely go through as I have no need, other than van servicing. I reached a junction on a bridge which I remembered from over 60 years ago. At school (and I was about 13 at the time) I was told by some class mates that a girl from the adjoining girls school fancied me (well that understandable) and wanted to meet up. One of my class mates acted as an intermediary and the place and time was fixed. I duly turned up and was hanging around for a bit….nothing. Suddenly my class mates appeared from behind the bridge parapet in gales of laughter. It was a set up. It scarred me for life. However David Whybrew…..if you are reading this….revenge may not be swift but it is certain.

Sorry you're feeling under the weather GH, hopefully it will pass. Sometimes it's just a case of trying to make yourself as comfortable as possible with paracetamol, plenty of fluids and rest
Sharp frost this morning with clear skies, temperature has dropped like a stone. Heading out to meet my brother for a coffee, need to get the car defrosted first.

Re: Weather
Also a bright but chilly walk here this morning. I have filled the water tank ready for tomorrow’s trip hoping it dosnt freeze tonight. The hose wasn’t frozen but my hands started to hurt as I was coiling the hose up. I don’t think being against the hedge should cause any problems and the heater is on. It has only slightly frozen once when we were facing the mini beast from the east. Even then by the time we got up it had thawed enough for a shower.

Has the doc got you on antibiotics GH? Take it easy and hope you recover soon
Almost a repeat of yesterday with clear skies and another frost. With the sun and breeze yesterday we got a washing almost dry outside, I rescued it before the towels turned to boards Schools are back today so another bit of normality returning, for a little while anyway

Re: Weather
Morning all!
Yes antibiotics and rehydration drinks, more blood tests on Thursday as whatever it is has probably hit my liver as well. Never had anything like this before very odd. Bad news antibiotics = NO hot toddies!
To the weather, much colder at 6 degrees but still some sunshine and no wind. Haven't had to cover the screen on the van so far this winter but just pootled out and put the heating on for a while.
Take care out there all and have a great day

Hope your feeling better GH, very cold walk back from the harbour along the promanard and home, don't mind the dry cold ,it's the sleet and rain that chills the bones.
Snow heading this way soon,so if your heading for the east Coast, bring a shovel.

Re: Weather
Big change this morning with heavy rain from a system heading in from the west, question is what it will when it hits cold air. Shopping day so looks like we'll be getting wet
Good luck with the tests GH, guess leaving out the whisky and having hot water with lemon, ginger and sugar might work. I would rather just have the whisky

Re: Weather
Victor Sylvester weather here, snow, snow, quick, quick, snow
It's not too bad outside, about 3cm, but it seems to have been heavier in patches so roads close by have been closed by abandoned cars. Had a couple of things to get at the shops might leave it until tomorrow

Re: Weather
Thanks Boaby
A little better now, went for a covid test this morning and awaiting results of five blood tests so perhaps the medics can get to the bottom of whatever this is!
Raining and cooler at 6 degrees, looks like it is set in for a bit. Lucky though by comparison to the family home back at Mount Benson where they had a foot of snow last to add to what was already laying.
Videos and pics look beautiful but spending an hour each morning ploughing just to get a 4WD out even with an ATV fitted with a blade can quickly become not much fun.

Re: Weather
Had the Moho out for a trip to IKEA yesterday as daughter needed some units for her new house, I don't like reversing into our drive in the dark so parked in the street overnight. Re parking involved moving two cars as well as Moho as we wedge it in. Took forever as all three had to be defrosted before I could move anything. Lovely crisp sunny morning as long as you are well wrapped up.
Have a nice day.

Re: Weather
Very hard frost when I went to bed last night, phone said -3c. This morning +3c, strong wind and torrential rain. Another day for indoors
Daughter asked me to buy bagels when out shopping, never fancied them before but just had one filled with bacon for breakfast. Very nice and will probably have again as a change. Always new things to try

Re: Weather
Changed again to heavy rain, it's almost cleared yesterday's snow. Brief respite from the cold stuff which is forecast to return again tomorrow. We postponed our shopping trip yesterday so got to pop out for a few things today. My wife ordered a new fridge for the kitchen, so the room has to redecorated before it's delivered apparently
Guess who's got the job of wielding the paint roller, go on, guess

That's no way to treat your wife, surely you could lend her a hand with the painting?Askit wrote:Changed again to heavy rain, it's almost cleared yesterday's snow. Thanks Boaby, more tests next week, results so far inconclusive. Really good news is the new antibiotics say alcohol is fine so the hot toddies are back ON!
Blowing a hooley down here this morning and raining hard so not much outside time. Still very mild though at 12 degrees, we really haven't seen any winter weather yet. Thermals are still in the drawer from last year. Huge waves forecast for the North coast today so tempted to take a drive up and have a look.
Have a great all
