Off to daughter's house to start demolishing the brick fire surround in her lounge. Somehow feel I might be stiff and sore this time tomorrow. BigGrins!
Done that! With the first dry calm day in a fortnight , off to daughters house to wrestle 10m of 6 inch flue pipe liner  down the chimney to connect to the now rebuilt fireplace !
Hello Kaspian,   up!   Come out of hibernation I see  hugegrins ,mind you don't fall of the roof.

Nae fear Boaby , liner installed , eventually had to climb onto the chimney stack foot either side of the pot and force it round some hidden awkward bends. Glad I don't have to do it every day - nursing the sore back / arms/ legs noo..... wrestling about 30 feet of six inch liner over your shoulder on top of a chimney  in windy conditions not for the faint hearted !

Much milder this morning with no sign of frost but rain on the way.

Fire surround came out easier and quicker than expected. Outer face was plasterboard with wooden mantle piece. Club hammer and brute force dealt with that. Other than sealant to wall this was free standing. Main fire surround was Marshall blocks that everyone loved in the 80s. Eight courses high, each course tied in with metal straps to chimney breast (b**ger!) Club hammer, bolster. Crowbar and multitool plus 3 hours of hard graft from two of us saw fire surround reduced to several piles of stones and rubble bags in back garden. One final push saw it all taken to Council tip and disposed off.

Certainly wount get me on roof. I get dizzy changing a light bulb. Bit stiff this morning as predicted but nothing aching overtly and hopeful I should be able to move ok.

Onwards and upwards then (without too much upwards hugegrins)

We had heavy rain from early evening yesterday, still damp this morning so no frost but cold. The rain has stopped for now but I think there is more on the way. Off to the big orange shop later for more paint (alway get too much or not enough  rolleyes). Got a few other things to get so I'll be getting sent with the right money wrapped up in a bit of shopping list paper  hugegrins

Some heavy rain showers coming in now, very windy, windscreen cover on the van has been strapped down again.
Take care if you outside.

Much brighter morning, dry and pretty mild. Looks like a good drying day before the wet and windy stuff returns tomorrow.

It looks dry and bright out there today but as others have said this might be the calm before the storm. We are still going out on Wednesday but the travel plans for the rest of the week can go on hold for now.

Lovely early spring morning here. Mild with no breeze and light cloud cover with some blue sky. Make the most of it while it lasts as weather forecast for rest of week includes wind, rain, snow and frost.

Got to change external EHU box on the WXL do looks like this morning is best option this week.

Have a good day

An absolutely dreadful day so far. Heavy rain started in early hours and hasn't stopped since, torrential at times, back garden path around bungalow flooded, drain (soakaway) can't cope.

Well now, got to report that sitting out on drive working on WXL was very pleasant, although I was wrapped up.

Even better and most unusually for me changing EHU box took 10 minutes and with no problems. Happy days allthumbz

That's what we had yesterday. There is a patch of the garden that we call the pond, when we get persistent rain it just gathers water. Nothing we do resolves it. I got the washing out but I had to evict the fox first, don't think it was very happy.
