Re: Weather
As usual rain overnight and sunny start to day. Winds returned during night and rather blustery now. 11° rising to 13.

Re: Weather
A bright but breezy start here. Management planted tumbling Tom tomatoes in a couple of hanging baskets last week. She reckons they have more flavor than the shop bought ones.
I took them down yesterday when the wind picked up and moved some of the smaller pots in the lea of the garden wall. No matter how much we tidy up there is always an empty pot that gets blown round the garden.

More than breezy here today though bright and not a lot of cloud.
It is the time of the equinox though when winds are higher than normal...

Re: Weather
This windy weather reminds me of an incident when we were living in married quarters in Germany. The bins were big round metal bins about five foot tall on wheels known as metal mickies, as per the robot.
After they had been emptied the brakes should have been locked. One windy night we were woken by crashing in the car park. One of the metal mickies was ricocheting around the car park. My car was well out of the way but a couple of cars didn’t fare well including a German registered one.

Re: Weather
Morning all. Our washing was almost dry yesterday before it was on the line outside, the stuff did need double (even triple) pegged to stop it disappearing into the blue yonder Bit more quiet today, 8°c and dry for the most part. Got some things to do outside so today's the day.

Re: Weather
A lovely bright morning here. It looks like the storm has passed for now so the hanging baskets have gone back up. I think the bracket on the workshop wall needs attention because it creaks when you put a basket on it.
Management is off to here mates for a couple of days so it’s just me and muttly here. After our walk I will have time in the workshop. I will leave the dining room door open so muttly can wander out. I think he likes to make sure there is someone here with him. He stands by the workshop door staring at me for a while and the ambles back in the house.

Still some coastal low cloud hanging about, good walk with Tag at dawn, no sunrise visible due to cloud cover, mild with NO wind.

No wish to bore all re robotic mower but suffice it to say I'm deeply impressed.
If anyone wants more info, or a pic or two I'd rather not put on here, just PM me...

Re: Weather
Wish I could say the same! Had enough today, water running down the wall inside the hallway so thought it must be where a flat roof joins. Up on the roof I go and fabricate a guard to stop the water going under the tiles ( raining hard of course) only to find water was still running down the wall. After much climbing in attics discovered it was the water pump which supplies all the hot water to the house and was leaking, of course it is at the bottom of the airing cupboard and impossible for an old man to reach. Isolated the pump so we now have no hot water only to be asked by Lady G why there was now water appearing on a bathroom floor. Turns out that had nothing to do with the other issues but the waste pipe is leaking from behind the pedestal and guess what I cant get to it without major surgery.
So aching like a dog from climbing on the roof, can't have a bath as there is no hot water and looking on rightmove as I am fed up trying to look after a place we just don't need.
Grumpiness over, feel better now.
Have a great evening all... oh yes of course it is still raining

Re: Weather
6 degrees and pouring this morning. Doesn't look like it's going to improve either. I feel your pain GH, my Mum had a leak in the roof, ended up getting a dozen new tiles fitted and the hall had to be stripped right back and a new ceiling put up, walls re-plastered and the ceiling lights re-wired. Still, the place looks lovely now...

Re: Weather
Sorry to hear your woes GH, hope you get it all sorted soon. Wet here today and on for the morning at least. Forecast suggests it becoming dry but much windier this afternoon and a high of 10°c. Got a busy morning, places to go, people to see and a shopping list (wrapped around the money so it doesn't get lost ) of items to purchase.
Take it easy

Re: Weather
very sorry to hear of your water-related problems, GH. I can sympathise from recent experiences.
We've certainly had more than our fair share of water this winter. "Land of the Leak".
Spent a pleasant long weekend at Bath Marina - and the rain conveniently came only at night, so was able to stroll into the city along the riverside.
Blustery in Cardiff, and promises to be dry, for a while. Time to wash the car, probably.....

Re: Weather
Busy morning, new water pump ordered and delivery tomorrow but hallway will need stripping off and possibly plastering before redecoration, guess I could make an insurance claim but then the premium which is already ludicrous will go through the roof pardon the pun) so will end up doing most of it myself though not the plastering.
Bright sunny morning but blowing hard, high spring tides at the moment and with the surge the local road is under water, haven't seen anything as bad in 20 years of living here.

Re: Weather
A bright start with a slightly chilly breeze this morning for our early walk. I hadn’t planned anything for today but whilst eating my breakfast at about eight I got a phone call from the doctors. They said the GP wanted to discuss the results of my prescription review blood tests and could I be there at 1015.
There was nothing of concern from the blood test and carry on as before. But whilst I was there a student was frantically making notes. He noticed the rash I have and interrogated my about it. It’s never bothered me but he asked the GP about it. They decided it was worth treating so I now have some gunk and a follow up appointment for eight weeks.
When I set off home the paths were wet but it had stopped raining and it’s nice day now. I did a bit of shopping before lunch and have rewarded myself with a jam doughnut from Lidl. As per normal Muttly has left his morning chew because he is sulking. I wasn’t out for long but he can’t understand this coming and going and management being away.

Best apply duck tape before she leaves Ian, not just transgender (whatever that is), snowflakes can complain to polis about almost anything you say, consequence is they are overwhelmed and can't cope. Safely able to say this after crossing border.
Awful drive down to Northumberland yesterday with constant rain and flooded roads. Wouldn't want to have a grass pitch without a winch or tractor nearby. Better forecast for today
