Re: Weather
Morning all,
Tony said it all. Heavy rain and quite a strong wind but at least it's a bit warmer. Eldest daughters birthday today so will be paying her a visit later on.

Re: Weather
Pretty wild weather last night with howling winds and persistent rain. It's off just now but there's more on the way later this morning. Only upside is the temperature will get to 11°c so at least the rain will be warm Looks like we're in for a battering tonight with storm force winds hitting us.
Take care folks

Re: Weather
A warmer morning today. It was a balmy 16 when I went down to start breakfast so I might try a slightly longer walk for a change.
Typically when we plan to go away as per our Norfolk trips there’s a storm due. Hopefully it won’t be too bad by Tuesday and Wednesday. It won’t be a long walk especially if it’s just to the pub if the weather isn’t too good.

Re: Weather
Enjoy the trip Dave.
Dizzy heights of 11 degrees this morning, wind not as bad as expected. Not a lot on today, getting bits out for the vacation and a trial run to see if everything Lady G wants to take will fit, carry it all over, then back, doubt much of it will see the light of day in between.
( I am in trouble if she reads this )
Have a great day all and take care in the storms

9 degrees and raining and the forecast is for much of the same all week. At least the frost and ice has gone and the temperatures do seem to be on the increase.

Re: Weather
Regarding the temperature this morning I don’t think it was sixteen degrees outside. I read the weather thing in the workshop wrong. It was sixteen indoors.
We managed quite a decent walk this morning even though it was getting breezy. I think we have missed the worst of the storm so far because it’s coming from the SW again.

Think that's the storm hit us now - gale force wind and the rain is battering against the windows Think I'll need to dig out the earplugs tonight.

Re: Weather
Morning Boaby,
Rain has stopped (for now) but still quite gusty. 7 degrees at the moment. Small fence at the side of the house looks as if it's had it but I'll get a better look later on when I get home. At least there doesn't seem to be any chasing after wheelie bins this morning.
Take care all.

Re: Weather
It was a damp windy walk last night but it seems to have calmed down this morning. I hope there’s none of our members effected by the storm. Being brought up in a house that flooded regularly I feel sorry for anyone affected. Nature can’t be controlled even in these modern times.

Yes, hope everyone is OK. Wheelie bins were blown over and flower pots took some damage but nothing serious. Found a roofing end cap but couldn't see any missing on our house, discovered it belongs to our neighbour. Still wet and windy.
Cheers folks

Re: Weather
All trains were cancelled so didn't manage into the office today, working from home instead. Wind has eased up but it's still a bit drizzly.
Couple of fences down round here but doesn't seem to be any serious damage, even the wheelie bins were upright. One of the girls at college with my Daughter sent her a photo this morning - a tree had been uprooted and landed on her house, and it doesn't look like it's a small tree either, luckily no one was injured.

Re: Weather
Yes more disruption on the transport systems. Trains will be off from 7pm tonight until lunchtime tomorrow because of the next impending storm Jocelyn. There is a countrywide weather warning for strong wind gusts and heavy rain.
Keep safe folks

Re: Weather
Back to a cold grey day here. As much as I thought we might manage a couple of days away management has decided the weather is just too risky to try and travel. Its going to be a long winter unless we can get out soon. I thought getting the work done on the engine meant a winter break but nature is not playing right so far.

Re: Weather
12 degrees, grey and a few spots of rain in the air. SW breeze but nothing to worry about, we seem to have escaped the worst of the storms in the far South West. Good day to tidy up the garage and catch up on some of those little annoying jobs I keep forgetting about.

Re: Weather
8 degrees and dry at the moment but still quite blowy. Wasn't as bad as Sunday though. Not supposed to get much warmer today.
Was quite surprised yesterday when I went out for a bit yesterday. Couple of fence panels blown down was about all for the woodwork but there were 2 brick walls that were destroyed, one being at the local Tesco car park, hopefully no one was parked beside it, and the other on a main street where the full wall had blown over onto the pavement, again, hope no one was walking by it at the time.
Take care if your out and about and take a hard hat just in case........

Re: Weather
Yes, seems to be improving with winds moderating and becoming quite dry. The temperature should get up to double figures later too. I had to go out yesterday too, main problem was the number of flooded roads and debris of all kinds. Several main routes around us were closed off, presumably because they were blocked. I also saw a large road sign, the kind on two substantial metal poles, snapped off at the base. Fortunately it fell away from the road. I'll be happy when we're seen the last of these storms.
Take care folks.
