Hope so, thanks Hog.groundhog wrote:Safe crossing Ian. Morning all, dry with the threat of showers, off for the early shop then back for more nut sweeping if it stays dry.
Fitting kit for microwave should arrive from AS today so if wet that solves what I will be doing.
Have a great day all

Re: Weather
Not a bad morning, bit cloudy but dry and bright. Moving to another bit of the Lakes today, whose idea was it to move on a Saturday........that'll be me At least we should have a decent day to batten down the hatches before the nasty stuff arrives tomorrow. There are 5 or 6 very large tents on site, good luck to them

10 degrees and fairly bright if not sunny. Nothing planned for the day so I might empty out the van as it's booked in for a service and MOT in a couple of weeks and will need a hab check soon.

Re: Weather
An overcast damp start to the day so it’s a wet muttly walk. Management had a strange moment last night insisting the clocks go back. It must be the stress of having her sister staying that tipped her over the edge.
No matter daughter has invited us to a new Turkish restaurant for tea tonight so that will be nice. I havnt tried Turkish food.

Re: Weather
Really pleasant day yesterday, had a wander around Bowness and got back to the van for a BBQ. That went well until a rat appeared and took some of the food when I was otherwise occupied Rained right through from late last night until this morning but the wind has been quite light so far. More rain expected so don't think we'll be going far today.

Re: Weather
Wrong Bowness Boaby, it's the one on Windermere we're at. Not been here for somewhere around 30 years, there's been lots of changes to cope with the rise in tourism Had some heavyish rain over lunchtime but it's dried up a bit. Still expect showers but it's no whee near as bad as the forecasters were predicting.

Not sure if you are hanging around Bowness for a few more days Tony, we visited last month and steamboat museum is worth a visit.

Re: Weather
Blawin' a hooley on Orkney at the moment. We're getting rocked about a bit...40mph gusts according to the weather app.
We're at the Pickaquoy campsite in Kirkwall, some shelter from shrubs etc, but still feeling it. It's not really cold, the app reckons 16°. It's raining on and off. Nice and warm in bed though!

Morning folks,
Was blawin a hooley here last night as well. calmed down a bit this morning, 14 degrees and raining but no wind thankfully. Looks like it's going to rain for most of the day and be 'gusty'.
Take care if you're out and about.

Our son and family were camping....they ended up packing the tent away at about midnight as it was getting wrecked. Spent the night in the Freelander, and went to stromness to catch the first ferry back to the mainland.
It's a lot calmer this morning.

Much better down here, wind has dropped and a sunny day ahead, 16 degrees at the moment and may even see 19 or 20 later
Looking to see how to fit the new microwave in the van this morning, this one has no turntable and some other features which should be an improvement on the old one. Just have to figure out how to get it in!!
Have a great day whatever you are doing.

Thank BB, need to talk to the tour organiser about that as I think she has made plans for our stay Bit windy with a few showers this morning but forecast suggests it being a mainly dry day. We're heading out for a walk so I hope they're right.
Take care all

Nice sunny afternoon here, after a cool start to the day, we had a nice walk earlier down to the south beach and had breakfast on the way back.

Re: Weather
Quick update, son and family got back to Thurso safe and sound, and the tent is no worse for wear. They have lost a few tent pegs, but otherwise okay.
Lovely clear skies in Kirkwall this evening. 14° C. Such a marked contrast.

Glad your son and family got back home OK Peatlander. Boaby, did you "caramelise" the burger? In my experience they need a bit of crusty black stuff on the edges
Very pleasant afternoon, started the day happed up for rain and wind and progressed into shorts and a tee shirt.

Re: Weather
After a couple of nice sunny and pleasantly days it looks like the weather is due to change later this week. Apparently there is a named storm heading from the south west. Being north of the Lincolnshire wolds hopefully we will be sheltered from the worst of it.
