Re: Weather
Dry now but heavy rain started around 5 and stopped around 7.30. Hope it holds off as we both have our covid and flu vaccines this morning and they don't want us to go by car so that the car park can be reserved for those that can't walk there.

30 years ago we bought a Sebo vacuum from John Lewis in Aberdeen, salesman at the time said it was so powerful using it was like taking a large dog for a walk!
Gets new filters annually, new roller brush about every five years and have had to replace handle/power cable unit. Only thing wrong I haven't been able to fix is clip to hold on nozzle for hose is loose so have to store it elsewhere. Superb quality with spares still available from manufacturer.
Ours was an Electolux and built like a tank. We can still get some spares but the drive has gone and sometimes you just have to accept an item is no longer economically worth repairing. Funnily enough, we ordered a Sebo from our friendly neighbourhood online store as it's replacement.
Forecast of sunshine and showers was spot on. Good luck with the vaccine Paul

Re: Weather
Good start to the day, nice dose of flu and vid vaccine, could be worse I'm not called Kwasi.
Bright sunny start, light breeze and still comfortable stubbies weather, keep this up and heating will be turned off all Winter.
Sad about the old friend Mr Vacuum Cleaner Tony, the domestic goddess here in Hog Castle has a vorwerk which must be over thirty years old and still running just fine. Last year bought her a dyson animal v11 to do the lighter bits and she loves it. Of course I would do it but I am allergic to pink jobs so have to avoid them.
Have a great day all

15 degrees overnight and van internal temp read 30 this afternoon - so dogs and hubby closed inside the van with AC on watching the footie :-)

The rain did hold off for our walk to surgery and back but hadn't been back half an hour when the heavens opened and its been raining ever since.Paulmold wrote:Dry now but heavy rain started around 5 and stopped around 7.30. Covid left arm, flu right arm. Left arm aching. Surgery were doing one thousand patients today, all very efficiently carried out.

Yes, same as above.
Still got a bit of tenderness where I got the booster but nothing in the other arm, no other significant side effects.
Happy Sunday

Re: Weather
Same as others just a mild aching in the arms and a muzzy head for a while but Lady G was not so lucky. Absolutely fine at first then suddenly started shaking with cold, turned the heating on, gave her a thick blanket and hot water bottle and she was still freezing cold. Very disturbed night but hopefully will start feeling better today, at least she has warmed up
Lovely sunny morning with no wind so sending her in to the sun lounge to sit and bake, as for me not a lot planned, a day of doing bits I guess.

Re: Weather
Lovely bright day if a bit breezy from the west. We managed a walk along the bank top at Barton before lunch outside the cafe. Muttly fell asleep in the sun out of the breeze until lunch was served. He can smell chips at fifty paces.
As per our recent trip away it’s a lovely time of year with the trees going into winter colours.
There’s normally a couple of motorhomes in the car park but today there were six and a crowd of van conversions near the cafe. One of the motorhomes was an elderly Pilot with a cat curled up on top of the dashboard.

Re: Weather
I did post this morning but it hasn't appeared (presumably I forgot to press send)
I'm feeling rough, last night couldn't sleep as both arms were too painful to lie on. Like Lady G I went to bed with ice cold feet, shivering for 2 hours followed by burning up, head splitting. Carol has a cold anyway so cant tell what is from the jab or from the cold. Hope this doesn't last long.

Hope it clears soon Paul, we call Liz the energiser bunny because nothing stops her, this really did though. Seems much better tonight but still cold even though we have the heating on and it is roasting in here.

Re: Weather
It does appear that it's a bit like Russian roulette with the vaccines, one of our friends took a week to get over hers but others have no reaction at all. Hope you all get back to feeling fit and well soon.
Cold and showery this morning with little chance of it changing today, don't think we'll be going anywhere. We got our new vacuum yesterday and the boss put it together, I suspect it might get a thorough try out today. So it's either or

Re: Weather
Thankfully Liz is fine this morning so short term issue, hope it is the same for you Paul.
That's not you reading the instruction manual is it Tony?
Nice sunny morning down here, grass is very wet therefore a bit early to get the mower out but after coffee that's the way I will be going. Planned trip to Sussex is cancelled, bogger, looking forward to that. instead everyone has invited themselves down here so having to plan for sleeping and feeding seven extra bodies. Will need to get away after that for a few days

Cloudy but dry start with more sun on the way for later. Still cool with some areas having patches of ground frost this morning. Out to the recycling yard later and then a coffee.
Take it easy.

10degrees, near cloudless sky and little wind. Just finished packing the patio set away into summer house for the winter and swept the drive.
Waiting on No2 daughter returning the moho this morning after her 10 day trip to South of England. Get it cleaned tomorrow ready for our next trip away, which will be last minute impulse depending on weather

Re: Weather
Give me the van over the Audi any day, at least I can get in to the van without contortions and grunts. Driving vw group cars not a problem, I did have a Skoda Superb as my car a decade ago, that was nice to drive but did have a good few recalls in the three years I had it

Re: Weather
Used to hire cars from Hertz quite a lot to drive between Truro and Heathrow, often it ended up as a Skoda Octavia, they offered to "upgrade" me to an Audi and were amazed when I said could I have the Skoda back please. Driving the Audi A3 I found really uncomfortable, nearly shook my teeth out.
I am sure they are wonderful cars but not for me I am afraid.
Did that hundreds of times in loads of different cars, Mercs, Jags, BMW's, all time favourite a Volvo V90 estate. Worst an MG6.
