Weather

Another cold misty day here. Muttly is getting crafty with his evening walk. It takes me longer to get wrapped up than he wants to out. He got to the first telegraph pole fifty yards from the house last night and turned round. He can’t be cold because he has a double thickness coat and comes from Romania. He is simply a lazy old dog that likes to be cuddled up to a radiator iff he can.

This was the view I woke up to this morning. 9am now and 20 degrees.
I might go for a swim..
Changeable though, we had floods yesterday, warm rain is weird.

Very nice Al, -4 here this morning, freezing fog rolling in ,not very pleasant to walk in,still had a wee walk with Tag..forecasted to warm up to +2 later.

This is the 3rd day of freezing fog now, after watching the news reports of the snow in places I don’t feel to bad about the fog, log burner is out now so I can give the glass a clean

-6°c here this morning with the predicted hard frost. I went out yesterday morning to get a couple of things after defrosting the car. Main roads were fine but I got diverted onto side roads because of a closure. I was very fortunate that there was no other traffic on the road at the first junction, even at a crawl my car would not stop because of black ice. Got to go out today and tomorrow so I'll need to be wary.

-6 here as well with clear sky and more frost on top of yesterday's ice. 200 ya4ds from our house to end of estate was sheet ice, then roads drivable with care. Picked up large bag of rock salt this morning at Tesco as only had half a bag left in garage from last year. Reckon they will be sold out by 9am.

-4 here again, first thing, but, like yesterday, a nice sunny day so far, no fog, and still ZERO wind.
Gridwatch tells me that for the 3rd day running we are getting more electricity from coal than wind and solar combined!!!
Forecast remains similar as far as I can see......

-7 here (no idea how low it went in the night ), everywhere white over. Sunny .

2 degrees here but there was a proper frost last night and everything is still frozen and slippery. Just fed the birds and given them fresh water, they look pretty grateful by the activity. Will not be venturing far today I am afraid.

Back garden water butts all frozen solid, ( frost pocket facing north) car thawed off and warmed up. No fresh snow or wind.

Another cold misty morning but still no sign of any snow here. The hedges are really  pretty with frosty cobwebs on them.
I had to move the Rienza across to put it on mains hook up. I have put the heater on gas a couple of times but this cold snap isn’t going away any time soon so to save the gas the mains heater can go on.
Last year the fused link for the glow plugs corded away being replaced by a new fused link. I know it’s been stood since the 19th of November and it’s colder than usual but it was struggling to start this morning. I think the glow plug wiring and plugs need checking. The engine has only done 55,000 miles but it’s 17 years old. 
The MOT and service is due in January so it can wait. I know about heater plugs snapping off in cylinder heads and I would rather the garage tackle them.

Still -2 here at 1pm. Fog descending as well. Tonight supposedly only dropping to -3. 
Reading the post about toilet flush tank antifreeze yesterday,  struck a chord that I may not have drained it and upon checking found I hadn't.  Hope I haven't forgotten anything else.

Cold clear dry night, -2 at 4.30 ,good walk with Tag , most of the deep frosty ice has. Cleared from footpaths.

-7 with frost on top of yesterday's frost. Daughter went to Highland dance class in Blairgowrie last night, roads OK in Vale of Strathmore,  one of the other adult dancers made it down from Braemar, Glenshee Road open and ski lifts working.  Said they were expecting approaching -20 overnight. Interesting to see what figure was.

Huh, it was only -18 

-8°c here, still dark but it looks like a repeat of yesterday with heavy frost. Heating engineer arrived at 8am and has put stuff into our CH to de-gunge it, hopefully it will work.

Forgot to mention that we also have freezing fog, visibility not too bag but it appears to be getting worse. Hospital appointment (routine) at lunchtime so need to work out when to defrost the car.

I am not sure what the tempreture was last night here but the paths and grass were white with frost on this mornings walk. Muttly is in one of his silly sulk moods because management is packing to go away with her mate for a couple of days.  Personally I think they are nuts driving to York to see the Christmas Market. Her mate is not a good driver at the best of times never mind in bad weather. No matter management has packed her long toms so should stay arm.

Tropical -1 here today compared to yesterday but dropping again tonight to -5. Light frost on tops of hedges.

No frost and now 8 degrees (that's plus eight)

Not a good day to be a sick tree around Hog Castle today, tree surgeons are busy taking down the ones that have died from ash dieback and pruning others. Honey fungus and ash dieback are everywhere here, shame.

Walked in to the village to deliver the last of the Christmas cards, felt much warmer out there so back to do some leaf collecting and tidying up. Nice to be outside again.

Fog cleared overnight leaving a starlite cold -4 morning, brief walk with Tag in his wee booties, he doesn't like them ,will kept them for the snow.

Balmy -2 just now, forecast to get above 0 degrees here about lunchtime. Need to get both cars defrosted and deiced as they are both needed later today. Will give have a go at WXL and check batteries as it is needed on Saturday for a trip to Glasgow.might connect ehu and use oil filled radiator as well

-11 this morning and feels very cold, the frost outside looks like a blanket of snow.

Everything is frozen this morning, including my internet apparently 

I was feeling left out with the lack of snow until this morning but it snowed whilst I was cooking my breakfast for half an hour. Now it’s back to a frosty morning with a light covering of snow. Muttly will be happy he shouldn’t get wet on our walk.
