Re: Weather
Wet!
The thumbs up is because we had the lawn demossed, scarified and reseaded a week or so ago. Had to resort to hosepipe as its been so dry here but our water is really hard and the seeds don't like it at all.
Hopefully a good dose of clean water and a feed will perk things up.

Re: Weather
It’s been raining since early morning here. I bet the crowd in Robin Hoods bay have not gathered at opening time. It must be a killer for pubs with little or no space for outside drinking like the one at the bottom of the hill. There aren’t meany places to shelter with you’re chips either.
Muttly and I managed a short pre breakfast walk this morning but the wind and rain was head so we about faced and battened down for a soggy day.
He dosnt seem to understand puddles. At lunch time I took him for a toilet break on the cinder track. He wouldn’t walk through the puddles. I dread to think what his life was like in Romania. No matter he is settling in well and getting quite cheeky. He put his front feet on the bed yesterday and waged his tail. After management said no he curled up on his mat for the night.

Re: Weather
Same here but we've got some sunshine with broken cloud now. Forecast is for showers all day so nothing much going on outside for us.

Rained heavily overnight but now broken cloud , rather windy, a toilet tent nearby folds almost to the ground, wouldn't like to be in there .

Still with the South York’s DA at Gainsborough, wind is getting up, large white fluffy clouds and sunshine enabling the solar to pump some amps in the batteries

Re: Weather
Glad Muttly is settling in Dave, life must be so much better now!
No rain yet today but very windy, been to LIDL and Lady G has emptied the shop of plants ( again!), not much of a day for getting on outside but the cheap dashcam I have on the car fell off so might try to find something better as long as it is cheap or fix the old one. It was free with something I bought and has done a few years so can't complain. Have the all singing and dancing one on the van but for its purpose is it really any more worthwhile, I feel not. Dashcam would be worth more than the car probably.
Have a good day all

Re: Weather
It rained hard last night but this morning it dried up when we went for our first walk. When we walked to Robin Hoods Bay station before lunch it was getting quite warm with a gentle breeze.
The cinder track is quite muddy in places but passable with care. Muttly still won’t walk through puddles if he can help it. We walked on opposite sides of the puddles as far as his lead would allow.
When we got to the station car park it was packed. There were people queuing for the ticket machine and for a parking space. There were a few motorhomes along the back. They must have got there early to claim the best spots.
We were going to walk to the top of the street but it was too busy. The pavement from the station is only on one side so it was hard work keeping a safe distance. We gave up and walked back to the cinder track as far as the first bench looking out over the bay.
If the weather stays dry this evening management might come with us for the muttly after tea walk. Her Achilles’ tendon is better but not enough to do anything too adventurous walking wise yet.

Dry but very windy out today cloud cover is heavy but seems to have cleared a little since dawn. Will refill all the feeders today as the squirrels are playing havoc and destroying them

Ditto on both the weather and the squirrels, about the only thing left is the fat feeder

Re: Weather
Dry, cool and breezy here but we expect showers later. I've had to evict two large black spiders from the house this week, what's going on? Usually this happens in September/October, not May.
We had a lot of trouble with squirrels wrecking the bird feeders, even the supposedly squirrel proof ones. I've put physical barriers on the bird tables which has had limited success but extra heavy gauge wire on the seed and nut feeders has worked well. Most of the birds visiting right now are sparrows.

Re: Weather
I had to laugh, when we were on a site up north there were red squirrels helping themselves from a nut feeder hooked over a branch that had been tied to a fence. Crows arrived and mugged the squirrels, they chased them away and quickly lifted the feeder up the branch and onto the ground where the contents were scoffed

Re: Weather
We had a nice drive back via Hutton le Hole. Thinking it would be a good idea to air muttly we walked down the village. The two cafes had tables out side so to rest managements ankle we stopped for a cup of tea. Typically the dark clouds rolled in.
The cafe lady said "I will get a brolly". There was a light shower before she got back and we decided to have lunch there rather than walking back to the car park. Soup and a half sandwich each was very nice. I have seen less in a full sandwich than the so called half sandwich.
We stopped again before we got to Beverly for a break and the heavens opened for about five mins. Now we are home and its done the same here. It must be the same weather following us.

Re: Weather
Dry and mild, 14°c just now. Improving picture with a bit of brighter weather as the day wears on but back to heavy showers tomorrow. Would have been a good day for getting the van washed but my presence has been requested elsewhere

Re: Weather
Blue skies this morning, 11 degrees but still that nagging wind that just wont go away. Probably give the van a bath this morning in time for it to rain again this afternoon. Bird movement today, plenty of gulls, pigeons, rooks and larger birds but the smaller guys seem in short supply at the moment. Bullfinches were around yesterday otherwise mostly bluetits and blackcaps.
Enjoy the day all.
