Re: Weather
Just on freezing this morning but temperatures on the way up, clear blue skies so a walk down to the village is in order, best to keep away from the regular beach spots for a little while I think.
Take care everyone

Re: Weather
We had a thaw overnight so most if the snow has gone, dry and windy with rain forecast this afternoon. I'm on "rain watch" as we have a washing out, if I miss a drop falling it will be me getting hung out to dry

Re: Weather
A bit grey and damp here but the frost has gone for now. Our daughter came home on Saturday asking for de ice spray for her car. I couldn’t find any in managements car and I couldn’t be bothered opening the Rienza or going to the shed.
I did point out that she had driven past two large garages on the way home and her car has a heated front and back screens. She is always in a rush, a few minits to stop and think would help.

Re: Weather
Funny isn't it how now matter how old your children get it is still a case of "The oldies will have one/some"
Grey and overcast this morning and tropical 8 degrees, little bit of damp in the air but nothing that would require Tag to put his wellies on for if he lived down here
Lovely walk round the local village yesterday, locals here are amazing and will leave the sidewalk for the road to social distance, the few people we see are smiling, say hello and often stop for a quick chat. Why on earth would we ever leave Cornwall. As a youngster Barnes Wallace give a speech in which he said "The most important thing to find in life is contentment". We are so lucky here we have it.... even in the rain!
Stay safe and have a great day

Re: Weather
Horrible smirry rain here, the kind that appears light but leaves you soaked to the skin. A chap up north once described it accurately as "yon fine rain". Today's walk has been postponed until further notice in favour of finishing the Sunday papers

Re: Weather
Hard frost here and -4°c outside, they say it will go up to 3 or4°c later. Nothing much moving but we found a pile of feathers under one of our feeders, no sign of the casualty though

Re: Weather
Drizzling and heavy skies this morning, warm though, registering 10 degrees on the thermometer outside.
Really pleased the birds seems to be returning, saw a pair of chaffinches yesterday the first for ages. Lots of the little blue fellas around and wrens. Now out up eight nest boxes around the place, still to finish the owl box better get on with that! Still no geese on the river which is extremely odd.
Have a good day all

Re: Weather
Dry, overcast and mild. Walk to the local fruit and veg stall as SWMBO wants some more daffs, lots of birdsong as day broke this morning and now a worn track where our visiting badger comes in. Mus get one of those night time cameras or get Lady G to sit up all night with the curtains open. Should be OK unless she puts a light on!

Re: Weather
Another grey damp day here. It was starting to sleet as I got home with the Rienza this morning. Probly due to the damp it felt colder today.

Didn't venture out this morning as it's still pouring down. Rain started around 10 last night and hasn't really eased all night.
Short walk under the car canopy for Tag this morning.

We've got 3 or 4cm of snow lying, with some serious travel disruption around the area. Hopefully it will turn to rain here too
Spoke too soon because the snow is back on

Re: Weather
Always makes me laugh that travel can be paralysed by 3 or 4 cm of snow!
No snow here, still very mild at 10 degrees according to the thermometer, gentle WSW breeze and total cloud cover. Possibly a little light rain so may give the van its regular bath in between the showers!

I get that but, to be fair, the distribution of the snow has been patchy with some getting nothing and others getting significant snowfalls. The Borders and higher roads got hit apparently.

Re: Weather
We too walked in the town yesterday, en route to the woods for the main walk (all LOCAL btw(!) and, as you say most people crossed the road to maintain social distance, one didn't she won't be talking to me again! Wouldn't move off the narrow path, I waited she did nothing, I said I wish to come past you, go ahead she said, I'm trying to maintain 2m distance I said, she simply said OH we're doing all right! I walked into the field and when passing her said, no you bloody well aren't, idiot! That said she was a rare exception, virtually everyone here is following the rulesgroundhog wrote:Funny isn't it how now matter how old your children get it is still a case of "The oldies will have one/some"

Anyway, a couple coming towards us, we crossed to the other side. It was our directly across the road neighbours!. We both laughed, I said we only crossed the road to avoid the peasants coming towards us, they said they were going to do the same to avoid the peasants walking towards them!!!
Said Happy New Year as it was first time we've seen them this year.
