Re: Weather
I took muttly out before bedtime and nearly came a cropper. The decking outside the dinning room door is completely frozen. It dosnt normally freeze like this but the rain and cold never dried it out properly. In hind sight I should have gone out of the kitchen door on to the drive.
Managements friend fell on the ice in Louth and at home in Manby last weekend. She now has a chipped collar bone. She is an accident waiting to happen normally so this comes as no surprise. The gin may have kept out the cold but dosnt improve the balance or reaction times.

Black ice is extremely dangerous and not to be taken lightly. On one weekend my boss and a colleague suffered serious head injuries after slipping on frozen ground. More significantly, the latter was out on a mountain bike and wearing a cycling helmet. He made a full recovery but my boss was off work for nearly a year and continued to suffer from headaches.

Be careful out there Boaby, we left for the supermarket at 0700 and like you outside the garage which is cobbled was like an ice rink, nearly came a cropper! Sorry to hear about Managements friend, not a good time to be visiting A&E! Sainsburys had just a handful of shoppers and the shelves were well stacked, we are lucky though we have an excellent fresh fruit and veg stall in our village which has good stock and always just picked so supermarket is once a week for essentials.

Took Tag out for his ablutions llast night, everything was frozen solid, didn't venture out with until 7 this morning, to dangerous to walk on.
Spread some road salt from our local salt bin, our wee path and road , needed it, got cold and came in for a shower.
Keep safe everybody ,especially you old ones down south.

Thanks Boaby; drifts of mushy snow on the ground when we got up- the first this winter. Temperature now 3 deg C, snow completely melted and the ground is dry. We are promised sunshine later on, though it doesn't look promising so far.
If anyone is missing Spanish winters then look at their weather. Wednesday night recorded the coldest temperature in Spain ever ( -35.8 deg C in Leon province ) and down on the coast it's been pretty parky with little sunshine. Heavy, persistant rain in Almeria and other desert places. Snow all over inland Spain.

Significant frost and -1deg this morning.
Flock of about 8 long tailed t!ts on the feeders at once this morning and about the brightest colouration on a Goldfinch I have seen. Getting ready to show off for a mate I presume.

Thaw on now, ice melting of the thermal screens, persistent rain coming down now, rain on ice, not ice.
Seen a few oldies with stookies on their arms earlier, hope they get better soon.
Have a nice day.

I'm still struggling with learning English never mind that strange language you fine fellows up in the country where you wear the kilt speak.
I will google it though.....ah a cast, or, is that a plaster cast in English.

You reminded me of a joke!
An ex RAF pilot was doing a talk at the WI and explaining how, after a bombing raid, he was pursued by three enemy planes. "Suddenly", he said, "there were three Fokkers behind me". The chair of the WI nudged him and said, "weren't Fokkers German fighter planes". "Yes" he said, "indeed they were"
"However. these Fokkers were Messerschmitt's"

From last nights ice it was thick mist when we went to Lidl this morning.
After being attached to a Scottish regiment for three years I still struggled to translate Glaswegian. Not helped by there ability to party well at every given chance. Most weekends parties started Friday lunch time finishing with Sunday dinner. The rest of the weekend was spent recovering for Monday’s first parade.

I was always taught that the haggis had two legs longer on one side to run round mountains and two legs shorter on the other. The only way to catch one is to make it turn round. Are you now telling me that isn't true!burlingtonboaby wrote:Well done GH,no flys on you then. ,better get out on the moors for your Haggis soon.groundhog wrote:Och No! There are no haggis on Bodmin Moor, just a big cat like beast with a huge grin on its face licking its lips
Meanwhile not been a bad day down here at all after that nippy start on the ice rink, sunny afternoon in the conservatory inspecting the inside of the eyelids and probably snoring like a little piggy.

Light frost here today, a lot cloudier than of late and winds very calm.
Rumour has it a certain Lady has a special birthday today, I even put clean pants on!! I have also undertaken to help out in the kitchen. Despite the virus the local hospital has someone on standby in A&E as I struggle to boil an egg so I may be back later for instructions. We should have been in the Grenadines enjoying the sunshine (Palm Island) but hey, life is what you make it not what it could have been. Stay safe everyone and have a great day

Re: Weather
Still -5°c outside, wheelie bin collection was delayed because of the weather yesterday so they arrived this morning. I tried to open our garden gate to retrieve the empty bin but the bolt would not move, completely frozen solid. Remedial action has been taken but I'm not amused Forecast is for rain tomorrow and turning milder (or less cold:rolleyes: ).
Hope the "certain Lady" has a great birthday GH

Now I know where it’s gone. We were promised wall to wall sunshine today but not a glimmer. It’s grey but not bitterly cold. Rest of the week milder but no sun.
