Why do people have to light smoky bonfires on days like today!

Re: Weather
Like Boaby, lovely starlight night and now sun trying hard, looks like a dry day ahead but then it is all changing. Easterly wind has been a blessing as it blows the millions of leaves back in to the adjoining woodland but from tomorrow the prevailing SW returns which means back to hours of blowing and picking up. Used to take them all down to the recycling centre in one ton bags a dozen at a time in the trailer but have now 'acquired' a piece of adjacent land which was previously unregistered where they all get dumped... saves hours, fuel and does the ground good so a win win

Heavy overnight rain delayed dog walk till 6.30, really soggy with tons of wet leaves on the deck.

Re: Weather
What time are you getting light these days Boaby, is it still dark at 0630 your side of the country?
Rained overnight here too but sunny skies now and a stiff southerly blowing, all local ferries are cancelled as it is a bit narly out there.
Pair of green woodpeckers on the feeders early this morning, still not so many small birds though, haven't seen a wagtail or finch around for ages yet there used to be so many?

He's taken a real dislike to the mud GH, Maisie used to love digging out mole hills, Tag avoids them.groundhog wrote:Tag is going to need his wellies!
We have to take a washing up bowl ,water and towels to wash and dry his feet.
I like to dry him off well ,due to any Alabama foot rot that may be in the area.
Dried up now,but misty.

Showers clearing now but overcast, no wind. A morning for getting in the cupboard to clean the filters on the hot water pump in the house then when that is done maybe give the van its weekly bath! Stay safe

Re: Weather
Wet overnight in the Borders but a beautiful autumn morning with sunlight showing through the mist and hitting the trees. Showers forecast for later with more wind and rain tomorrow. That's British weather for you

Re: Weather
Without doubt Boaby the next time we move house it will be to somewhere without a load of trees in the garden. We have a tree preservation order on our property and later today the TPO man is coming to tell us if we can take down a poorly ash tree which makes a huge mess. Keeping our fingers crossed.
On the bird front really don't know what is going on, we have peanuts, mixed grain. fat balls, niger seeds all out on the feeders but very few takers. I would have thought by now there would have been many more visitors, maybe they are all self isolating?
On the plus side lots quite a few different geese flying overhead to the river and there is a very vocal owl close by.
I will put fresh food out again today see if it makes any difference.

Same here with the bird feeders ,not many birds at all compared to last year, but there was a large rat swinging on the fat ball feeder having his breakfast this morning
