Normal service is being resumed.

The story goes that Fiat who supply the rear doors for the Peugeot Boxer van, decided as a cost cutting measure to stop fitting rear door restrictors. The vehicles affected were manufactured between March-September 2019. It seems that Peugeot were not happy with this state of affairs and instructed Fiat to put them back on during manufacture.

I think Autosleepers should have been more on the ball. They should have realised the implications when they were being supplied with Peugeot vans without these rear door restrictors.

PS. The Peugeot dealer didn't charged for this work.
So the bit i've bolded is the crux of the matter.....argy-bargy between Fiat and Peugeot over penny pinching cost cutting. Totally crazy, but i'm glad you came back to update the thread with this info and also not charged (rightly so too).

How many times during the build were these vehicles doors opened and shut and especially  during installation ,  probably opened wide for long periods. Did no one on the shop floor notice and flag up the fact that this omission was evident especially as they cut a hole in the ply door card to suit the absent restrictors buttons ?    Was this fact passed up the chain of command and not acted on or do the lowly workers just not give a hoot?    50 years experience in converting vans does  not seem to amount to much these days.
Totally agree with your points. Though this should never have happened at all, having read other disaster stories of new vans (not just restrictors), i think part the problem is British often 'shut up and put up'. Why are folk who buy a brand new £60k camper having to put fittings right? Why aren't they returning them to the dealers to get the jobs sorted?  shrugg

I was warned about the lack of door restraints when I collected my Warwick XL from the dealer before Christmas.

But I agree its a bad oversight especially with the very windy weather at the moment.

Door restraints came as a standard fitment on my very first car.......a secondhand 1960 banger.

When overpriced vans are being built down to a price at the cost of sacrificing essential fittings, in my opinion it's time to close the factory doors and pack up!

Just an update. I wrote to Peugeot UK after getting a recall on our newly registered 2019 Kingham. They referred me to our local dealer in March. We agreed due to lockdown we would wait for safer time's. This Monday the recall work was done. Dealer contacted Peugeot UK after looking at the lack of rear door retainers and after a phone call Peugeot have agreed retro fit the door retainers foc.

That is a good result and I might chase up my local Peugeot dealer on the back of this.

In the meantime, I made my own door restraints out of 8mm stainless steel bar which I've made to fit neatly on the tops of the doors.

Unfortunately yesterday after our first long holiday in our cv20, a gust of wind caught the driver side rear door while we where emptying the van, and has now smashed the rear window. This came as a complete shock as was unaware there were no restrictors, there’s a sticker saying to press a button to open up to 180, but no button. We have emailed Fiat and hoping that they will help. Fingers crossed.

Following the posts on this thread I have booked my 2019 Warwick XL at a local Peugeot dealer for the restrictions to be fitted under the Peugeot warranty. I feel very sorry for those fellow motorhomers who have suffered such unfortunate damage to their newish camper-vans. I will be very careful until I get my 'van sorted.

We are away today to have the van inspected by Fiat. It appears that
some camper vans had the restrictors removed to help (Hymer) fit them out, or were never fitted, but because we had a sticker saying to press button then maybe ours were removed, so then it becomes a problem for Hymer to fix completely 🤞🤞. I think it’s quite bad a company can remove a safety product and not inform the customer

This doesn't fit with my current understanding of the missing door restrictors. My Peugeot dealer said to me last Autumn it was a cost cutting measure by Fiat to stop fitting these. I'd say you would be on firmer ground if you had a Boxer, because Peugeot will fit restrictors if they are missing. I've no idea what has happened to Fiat Ducato owners. Presumable like you they are missing, but will Fiat Dealers behave like Peugeot and take responsibility to fit them under warrenty?
