Duetto Shower Tray/Toilet Removal
Hi
Has anybody taken the shower tray and toilet assy out of a Duetto Campervan.
Our 1994 model failed the mot on rear brakes which I am sorting and rust damage around the top mounting of the rear shockers.Seems like a common problem.
This corrosion needs welding but my big concern is that the shower tray which I think is glass fibre is very, very close to this area.
Don't want the shower tray to melt or worse, catch fire.
Have tried to take out the loo assy and then the shower tray but just can't seem to dislodge them.
Any advice would be grateful
Thanks

Hi Tony.
The person that would be most likely to have all the information you need would be Paulwest55 if you do a search and bring up his posts you will be amazed at what he has done. Look for "pimped my duetto.
Good luck. Whisky.

Shower tray/toilet removal
Hi TONYS49, sorry to hear about your delemer I.e. rust etc.. The shower tray is a pig of a thing to remove, the loo is set inside the tray, but the only way we could get the tray out, after undoing both drainage outlets was to prise the tray up with a crow bar and slide a flat garden spade under it, it was stuck to plywood, and there was a few small brackets around it that added to the difficulty, we had to hack saw throu some of these. If you succeed in getting it out I would not envy you putting it back in. If we can be of any further help feel free to get in touch. Check out the photos on our site it may help.

Duetto welding problem
Many thanks for all this Paul.
Don't fancy attempting this job after hearing about all the problems you had so going to have another word with the guy I know who does welding as
I never really mastered this art.
We haven't named our Duetto but after the last few days I have called it several things!
Anyway many thanks once again and also to WHISKY who passed me on to you.
Will let you know what happens.

Shower tray removal
Hi Tony,
Just another point is that on ours autosleeper had carpeted completely under the shower tray then on top of that was plywood the the shower tray, so I guess that when welding that area it would not be so much the worry of the shower tray melting as to the carpet and plywood catching fire. You could always just remove the washroom as we did, and adapted that area to your needs, we love ours now. Good luck anyway and I hope you get it sorted and have many hols in it.

Duetto Welding
Hi Folks.
Sorry I haven't been able to get back on the forum but I now have the Duetto welded and the brakes sorted also.
The guy who did sort my welding out was D.Newman at MOT Welding in Ivy Arch Road in Worthing,West Sussex.
Hope I am allowed to mention this(not advertising) but he is a one man band who seems to be able to weld most things.
He welded a long plate under each side where the shockers are without a blemish on the shower tray above.
Took the Duetto back for the MOT at, also in Worthing,(again not advertising)Swift Motors after changing the rear wheel brake cylinders.
Vosa had changed the rules about brake percentages the day before and the camper would not have passed again but for a common sense
approach from this garage.
Appologies to astrag60 for not getting the pics on but haven't sorted it out yet.
