Re: Weather
Lovely still and clear autumn morning, 10 degrees at 7.30am, by far the nicest morning in the past few weeks.
Hope everyone survived the storm with minimal or no damage

Re: Weather
Lovely sunny morning here too, lots of showers weather circulating but it looks like we might stay dry in this part of the country. We've got a few things to do today but nothing too strenuous.
Keep safe and well folks.

Re: Weather
Morning Boaby - not working today, got a few days off (if only I could win the lottery and retire).
Similar to BB, dry, still and clear but a touch colder here at 7 degrees. No rain forecast for today.
Take care if you're on your travels and enjoy the respite in the weather if you are lucky enough to have it.

Re: Weather
Early shop done, 12 degrees and 20mph NW breeze, it was drizzling when we left but now the tide has turned the skies are becoming lighter so hopefully will stay dry.
Picked up a load of detritus yesterday and still plenty to clear, not rushing though
Have a great day all

Re: Weather
Once again it looks like we have dodged the worst of another storm here with a nice bright autumnal morning.
Maybe just me being a miserable old sod but for the sake of muttly and his mates the weather has kept the assault of fireworks limited during the bad weather. He seems less bothered this year and we have managed our evening walk on time most nights so far. Last year we a barrage of fireworks most nights up to new year.
When we were kids there was a bonfire in the park for the village with limited loud fireworks. The shop that sold fireworks had very few loud fireworks and we had to have an adult with us to buy them. The likes of Roman candles or sparkly rockets were as loud as we got.

Re: Weather
Another bright morning, possible rain around teatime. Heard the first firework last night. We used to have bonfire and fireworks behind the fire station (put on by the fire fighters) and you could watch for free from surrounding roads. A bucket would come round for donations for the next year's fireworks. Now it's still put on by the fire fighters but now it's held on the local football club (no bonfire, just fireworks), admission is now £6 per adult but the fire crews collect money on 2 market days before the event for next year. So they get money for it in 2 ways.

Still windy and dry, ideal day for washing, two loads out and drying in the wind, rain showers forecasted for later.
Have a nice day.

Re: Weather
A bright but chilly start today. After muttly has had his walk I am going with our naibor to help him sort out one of his Green Goddess, the clutch is stuck on one of them. He was talking about taking the engine out to free the clutch. Anyone that has had anything to do with Bedford RL or other trucks know there are easier ways of sorting that out.
One of my trade tests at the end of my apprenticeship was to replace the clutch on an RL. Easy on a clean concrete floor but a different job in muddy forest with the jack sunk in the mud and the driver asleep in the cab.

Re: Weather
Pretty much the same as yesterday here, cold and dry with patchy cloud. Still trying to get my head around who set off fireworks in daylight
Seems the storm is not done with yet, please keep safe and well folks.

Overcast and 7 degrees. Think some has military grade explosive round here somewhere - firework went off last night and it actually shook the windows....

Re: Weather
Cold clear night, good walk with Tag earlier, rain has just started here, didn't hear many air bursts last night, hopefully the rain will dampen down the displays.
Good luck with The Bedford Rl Dave, drove and serviced them in Troon decades ago,
Have a nice day.

Re: Weather
Just a single shower this morning otherwise it's been not too bad. Did a bit of a blow round and management but some spring bulbs in.
Have a Burstner coming round this afternoon to be parked whilst an ex neighbour has some building work done, already have a Jag and a Honda from another neighbour, thinking of putting up a car park sign.
Have a great day all

Re: Weather
After a lovely morning it turned to rain by the time we got to the lockup and started unloading tools. The clutch was well stuck. Due to limited space and other vehicles parked there wasn’t really room to try freeing it gear. Fortunately Bedford fitted a cover plate under the bell housing meaning I could free it off with a bit of persuading from a screw driver. Apparently another user of the lock up had been trying to help and had taken the clutch linkage off.
It brought back memories of days spanner bashing in the army but on a nice dry floor out of the rain and cold

Re: Weather
Morning Tony, same here, sunny and dry and cold. Funnily enough we didn't have too many fireworks either and I haven't seen that many bonfires getting built this year which is unusual for this neck of the woods.

Should have kept my mouth shut, got hit with a salvo of air burst mortar fireworks when the rain eased around 10p.m, Tag doesn't usually bother with them, however these were commercial grade fireworks. Very loud .
Still heavy rain showers here, forecasted to clear this afternoon .
Have a nice day ,stay warm and dry, morning Dave, Tony.

Morning folks, 7 degrees this morning and damp, not raining, just damp. Was very near to calling the police last night, roads into Strathclyde park were closed for the Firework Display so all the ignorant decided they would abandon their cars on the surrounding streets. I was lucky to even get the car between some of them to get back to the house and it isn't a large car.

Re: Weather
The barograph looks great Ian. Storm Ciaran has set a new record for the lowest mean sea level pressure recorded in England and Wales in November, with a value of 953.3 hPa (mb) in Plymouth.
We are not so sophisticated with instruments down here, just above using seaweed. I have a Storm Glass which is pretty good at collecting dust and a Galileo Thermometer which looks good but will only read down to 18C so no use in my house as I haven't put the heating on yet.

Years ago there was a Met Office in Plymouth at (as it then was) RAF Mount Batten. I was told they had a piece of seaweed nailed up and also a notice reading "If all else fails, look out of the window".
