Re: Weather
Nice wander into town, new glasses frames chosen. Just checked online and WXL has passed MOT with advisory of slight pitting of brake discs on both front wheels. Happy days

I would want two polo ponies and a coffee shop for that kind of moneyPaulmold wrote:19 rising to 23 in York, hot and sticky but strong chance of rain this afternoon. Did the designer outlet village yesterday, got a couple of bargains from the M&S outlet but some places have lost the plot with prices , claiming 2 polo shirts for £80, coffee machines at £1000. Cost of living crisis ?!!

Re: Weather
So far today it’s been warm and dry. We stopped at Deep Hayes country park for lunch and a walk. No styles today so muttly is less sulky.
Our stop for the next two nights is in a pub car park alongside the canal at Cheddleton so tow path walks should be better weather allowing. If not the pub serves a decent pint of Marstons so that works for me.

Re: Weather
Spent the last 2 days using the van as my support vehicle (OH driving) while I do the central sections of the Snowdonia Slate Trail - perfect weather, no rain but warm with some light cloud. Always plenty of water in Snowdonia so the Spaniel kept cool with lots of swimming :-) Home now and a little rain forecast for Anglesey tomorrow so not watering….

Just had a terrific thunder and lightning storm here at Rutland, lasted about 45 minutes, rain drops the size of marbles, passed over now with a patchy sky now

Re: Weather
The rain never arrived here either at Hawes, Google says it's 18°c, 25°would be closer. We had a walk this morning, thank goodness because it would have been murder walking in the afternoon heat. I was even forced to employ the wind out awning for shade when we got back.
Tomorrow, well that's another story

Re: Weather
Good morning Gentlefolks. 14 degrees and light drizzly rain this morning which is actually quite pleasant - freshening the place up a bit. looks like it has to stay like this for most of the day.
Couple of jobs to do around the house today and then shopping....deep joy.

Re: Weather
Safe journey home Paul. Pretty much the same here, overcast most of the day with rain forecast for around lunchtime. 13°c now but rising to 19° later. Suspect we may be doing the rounds of the antique shops to have a laugh at their prices, like the Chopper bike in one for only........£1350 (no, I've not missed out a decimal point )

Little more cloudy here too, still 19 degrees though and dry. Back from early shop and even at 0730am the roads were busy. Looks like it will clear to be another hot one, washing soffits and gutters today seems to be the bosses instruction so best get started building scaffolding. What joy

Re: Weather
Home now, never saw the sun all the way. I know IanH says never go anywhere on a Friday and I've always agreed, today confirmed it. We avoid motorways as much as possible but today I wish we hadn't, road works everywhere (with no one working on them), queues everywhere. Sat Nav said 3.5 hours avoiding mways but it took us 5.5 with only half hour break. Raining for last 30 miles, still raining now home.

Re: Weather
Temperature was 18 degrees at 6am when I got up, sweating like a pig even before breakfast, all windows and doors open to try to get some air circulating. Going to be a hot one.
Management and I think we will take the WXL to the coast for the day in the hope of some cooler air.

Re: Weather
Sunny and warm start to the day 19 degrees already. Armed forces day today in Falmouth, parades, exhibitions and fly pasts taking part all day, it will be manic though, hope to catch a view of the Battle of Britain flight from home. There have been quite a few military jets flying over the last few days, typhoon, F15 or F35 and because we ae near RNAS Culdrose we see lots of helicopters but no idea what model half of them are!

Re: Weather
Being overflowen by jets is part of the dales (and Lakes) experience. No idea what they are or where they are going. There have been several military helicopters as well as some unusual small jets that almost look like private planes .
Light rain started around 5pm yesterday and kept going until this morning. Seems to be going off now but it will remain overcast and warm all day. Bit of shopping to do and a tidy up before we move to the Lakes tomorrow.
Take care all

Re: Weather
A bright start to the the day here in Derbyshire. We resorted to leaving every window and roof vent open last night because it was so muggy. I heard muttly drinking a couple of times during the night. It can’t be easy for him with his double layer of fur. Having said that he is molting like mad at the moment.
We are going home tonight. It’s been a good trip with only one soaking in a week so that’s not bad for the uk I suppose.

Sticky night, muggy and dull so far, temp 19 rising to 24 but increasingly likely to rain as the day progresses.

Re: Weather
19 degrees now and clouding over, rain forecast so got the outside jobs done early. Van now parked back in drive, waste water emptied (3× 10 litre buckets), toilet cassette sorted etc.
Stonehaven CMC looked full last night, called in for tea at chipppie after day at Drum Castle. Temperature topped 28 degrees. 10 vans parked on seafront and looked like they were there for the night. Lots of hire vans about.
Out of curiosity checked local hire company for cost of 2 Berth pvc for the 20 nights we will be away next month..£3200 basic hire cost. As this year for us van doesn't need mechanical service our anticipated base costs, MOT tax, insurance etc will be about £1000, no depreciation at present and we get to use as much as we want above summer tour, makes owning a van a sensible financial proposition.
