Replacement microwave
The Russell Hobbs MWO240 microwave in our 2019 Kingham has failed. I can source a straight replacement but wondered if anybody had a better suggestion please. I would like to buy the Dometic MWO240 but it is just too high for the cavity and that would be difficult to change. The Dometic is sold as having no moving parts, thus no rattles. Anybody know if that is true?
One that would fit and is suggested on at least one camper site is the 700 watt “Comfee.” Anybody have any experience of these?

Re: Replacement microwave
I fitted the Dometic MWO 240 one with no rotating plate in our WXL, even though it was a tighter fit we had no problems with it overheating as I have vents underneath it, I have since taken it out and now use it in the house and replaced it with a tower 600w microwave for better use with the inverter

Re: Replacement microwave
Thanks, but did the Dometic rattle? They say no moving parts but I am not sure what moves in a microwave apart from the plate.FreelanderUK wrote:I fitted the Dometic MWO 240 one with no rotating plate in our WXL, even though it was a tighter fit we had no problems with it overheating as I have vents underneath it, I have since taken it out and now use it in the house and replaced it with a tower 600w microwave for better use with the inverter

Re: Replacement microwave
No rattles from the Dometic after I used a strip of thin non slip matting hung over the door so it was gripped when the door was closed

Re: Replacement microwave
I replaced our Daewoo when it failed with a manual George from Asda. It was slightly less high so created an air gap to help against overheating which the Daewoo suffered with (we have no vents to outside as some models do). No noticeable rattles after doing the obvious plate and spindle removal when travelling.

Re: Replacement microwave
We have the Dometic in the XL. Definitely no rattles and it looks to be fixed in properly, unlike the Daewoo in our previous Kemerton. Large air gaps around all four sides yet no draughts through them that we've so far discovered, so wondered if the appliance vent is ducted to the outside. May have to update that observation when we're on the Cumbrian coast next week!

Re: Replacement microwave
Hello, just back from a trip after van sitting in drive since September , a few things have gone wrong….but mainly fixed most so far other than the exploding microwave ! It’s a daewoo. Think it’s the diode that’s gone so thinking of replacing microwave not unlike what paulmold has done. What I’d like to know if this is something I could do or does it require an electrician.
Thankyou you all…again lol

Re: Replacement microwave
You can do yourself. Microwave is simply plugged into socket in the microwave 'cupboard'. Remove extractor fan (if underneath as mine was), this will reveal the screws which pass through the shelf into the microwave. Make a template showing the screw holes and mark these onto underside of new microwave checking they miss anything inside the casing. Then replace everything in reverse.

Re: Replacement microwave
So…..not terribly successful at removing dam thing! I’ve removed the plastic circle covers to reveal the screws……now maybe it’s my eyesight but they are deeply recessed and tiny…I can’t tell if I need a wee Allan key or a screw driver. I’ve tried magnifying the holes but it’s not helpful. I initially used a small Phillips but im worried the screw is a bit chewed up now.
anyone any advice ?
Thankyou

Re: Replacement microwave
Mine were definitely screws, posidrive. I think Philips are rarely used these days.

Take a photo of the screw heads with your phone. Remember to turn it to macro.
