Microwave replacement Empty Microwave replacement

Post by Jarjar Tue Apr 07, 2020 6:51 pm

Can anyone save me time and fingernails by telling me how to remove the Daewoo microwave and replace it with another? Perfectly happy with the one we have, except the door developed a tendency to fly open in transit. I discovered that what l thought was shut actually needed another push on the top of the door for a satisfactory click and a secure door. As l say, quite happy with the cooking side, just a little worried that something nasty may be leaking past the side of the door.

Usually fixed by 4 screws from underneath.

If you mean that you're worried that it will cook you as well as the food, it's not a substantial risk at all, unless the gap is big. Microwave energy doesn't pass at all though small gaps in metal, which is why the mesh on the front door has holes that are easily big enough to see through. Generally the doors are designed so that you have a metal face against another metal face, and this forms a very effective barrier to microwaves, even with a small gap between the two.

If you're still worried, you can get microwave testers relatively cheaply now - certainly a lot less expensive and a lot less aggro than taking out and replacing the whole oven!
