Re: Weather
Just getting light here, 0°c and a heavy frost on the ground and on the cars. Forecast suggesting it will hit -14°c in some parts of the North of Scotland over the next few days. MOT day for my car so I need to get it de-iced.
Take it easy

Re: Weather
2 degrees, birdbath and car windscreen iced over but no frost on grass. Fortunately don't need to go out until tea time so car should de-ice itself hopefully.
We are just on souther fringe of yellow snow warning for tomorrow. Daughter due to be in office near Aberdeen but has already told them she will be working from home.
Stay safe and good luck with MOT Tony

Re: Weather
A nice bright but chilly start to the day here. I think I heard it right from the weather lady that we could be due snow this far south. It’s normally the far side of Christmas or my birthday in February. This snow is coming from the north east so the wolds to the south of us wont stop it.
Having worked at the roadside for meany years I am glad to be retired and let someone else have to do that in the winter.

Re: Weather
Feels warmer this morning, 7 degrees and light cloud cover, a few drops of rain overnight. Quick clean of the car today, MOT due tomorrow, it should be just fine even though it is getting on a bit now.
Drained the tank on the van yesterday, not expecting frosts but you never know.
Have a great day all

Re: Weather
Aye, need to get it out of the basement before the snow comes.
Clear sky last night so we have a heavy frost this morning and -2°c just now. We had a nice sunrise this morning with broken cloud. Forecast suggests a further dip in temps tomorrow to -6°c.with the rest of the country getting a share.
Car passed the MOT, also got a repair to a bent steering arm that must have been there since I bought it 7 years ago. At long last I've found a small garage that I can trust.

Re: Weather
2 degrees and no sign of expected snow, looks like daughter may have cried wolf by working from home, but still time for forecast to get proved right. We have been under Amber snow warning since midnight.
Snow shovel is hanging up just inside garage door, and large bag of rock salt at back of garage in case we need it to get up the drive to street

Re: Weather
Glad your car past the MOT Tony, mine was a different story. It is Mercedes now14 years old but with just 40K on the clock. It is a Brabus model so performance tuned but for a while I thought it didn't handle as it used to. Turns out the rear subframe which attaches the rear axle to the car has rotted and partly detached itself from the axle, could have caused a serious accident. The rest of the car is pristine underneath.
Bad news it will cost £2K to repair and up to £4k..
There is some hope though, I spoke to MB who said bring it over (gently!!) and we may be able to get it repaired under the 30 year warranty plan. Whoopee I thought, until he said "The problem is this is a back order part and we have no idea when we can get a new one, could be days, weeks or months"
Apart from that it has been a sparkling winter's day, brilliant sunshine, even though a little on the chilly side first thing with a hint of frost. Great day for a walk, looks like I may have to get used to that for a while!

Re: Weather
2 degrees and light snow flurry when I went into town to get some things from the bakers. No snow lying and only light frost on the car. Near hills still green with no snow cover. A90 currently blocked northbound at Stoney with lorries unable to get traction to get up the hill.
Off to Bo'ness in moho later on for daughter no2s brass band Christmas concert. Good to have our tea and toilet with us
Take care and stay warm.

Re: Weather
-1°c here too with a clear sky and heavy frost. Shopping day so we'll need to get the car defrosted first.
Sorry about your car GH, not what you want to hear but i hope you get it sorted. My brother had an automatic C class (no idea of the model) that was just over 20 yo when a similar thing happened to him. He had lots of problems with the external bodywork and was regularly searching the net for replacement parts at breaker yards. He gave up and leases a Peugeot 3008

Re: Weather
Thanks Tony, fortunately I have other options but a leased car may be drafted in temporarily as I will be driving to Heathrow at least four times over the coming months, around 250 miles each way.
A little cloud this morning, no frost and currently 3 degrees ( I feel a song coming on). Rain forecast for later. Had thought about going to the beach in the van this morning to give it a run but the roads are messy and the van is nice an clean so might give that a miss!
Take care in the nasty weather everyone up country, only 13 more days to the shortest one!

Re: Weather
:cold:Its certainly a bit chilly on the east coast but a lovely bright day. The frost warning on the car was red first thing and stayed on yellow all the way to Gunby Hall this morning .
The Hall was nice and festive for Christmas but it was a bit chilly to walk far from the house.
We didnt take muttly this time. He was clinging on to the radiator when we left and thats were he was when we got back.

Already -3 here at 5.30pm, strangely it's forecast to rise to zero by midnight and stay around that through the night, gritter out earlier.

Re: Weather
We need the frosts to activate the normal seasonal changes our gardens and wildlife biologically expect, now we have trees in the garden that haven't yet lost their leaves.
I remember in my childhood that by 5th November most all the trees in the neighbouring wood had lost their leaves, when a rocket went astray into the trees there were no dry leaves on the trees to be set alight.

Re: Weather
+2 degrees with northerly wind and broken cloud, based on fact moon keeps disappearing and reappearing. Will get a better idea when daylight eventually reaches us in next half hour or so.
Lovely drive back home from Bo'ness last night, clear sky, bright moon and not a lot of traffic. Drove most of M9 and all of M90 without seeing a gritter, first one when we got to Dundee. Temperature stayed above 0 and WXL behaved impeccably. Took Forfar Bridies with us and heated in oven for tea, along with a pack of Idaho instant mash. Lovely. Concert was good too.
Firmly in Amber snow warning area but no sign of snow as yet, warning now extended to Sunday. Much worse a few miles north of us

Re: Weather
Its certainly a frosty but bright start again this morning. Last night the pavements were very slippery when me and muttly went out for our evening walk.
When I went out to put things in the bins this morning the lids were frozen shut and took quite a tug to open them. Management has to walk round the corner for a wig trim at nine. Hopefully she wont do anything daft and require a visit to A&E. It was bad enough when she broke her ankle.
I am going to collect my perscription later but thats by car. Like Ian we should be having a ride out and lunch in the motorhome at the weekend but maybe its not such a good idea.

Still frosty and -2°c this morning with a clear sky, don't expect much to change over the day. Going into town later for a meal with family, I'm using public transport because I may have a small (aye, right) refreshment and, more importantly, it's free
Take care folks
