It was damp and drizzling for this mornings walk but the rain got harder the farther north we traveled. Muttly had a short walk when we arrived on site but we left him behind whilst we walked into the village for tea and cakes.
It was a bit soggy going one way but dried up a bit whilst we walked back. The Skye looked quite bright to the east so hopefully it will stay dry for a walk tomorrow.walkiesrainyday

Enjoy your holiday Tony, did you forget your Avon ?
Have a nice day.

Never needed it, in the past they've hardly ever touched me. Lost count of how many I've got now, which include a cracking replica of Ursa Major in mozzie bites on my side.

Not grumpy at all this evening - in a beautiful cheap aire with stunning views and the forecast said showers but we went ahead with a very long all day hike and not a drop! Still pleasantly warm and in vest and shorts :-)

4 degrees with broken cloud but absolutely no wind. Birdbath surface looks like a mirror this morning.  Pleasant change after wall to wall torrential rain for much of yesterday.

Not sure why but slept on until 7.15 this morning rather than usual 6am, still don't suppose it matters when I am retired  smile!

Have a good day

A nice bright autumnal day here in Thornton le Dale. We managed a short walk up the river to Elerburn. It was a bit chilly sat outside the church for a snack but the walk back along the lane was lovely with the woods being full of fallen leaves.

It's a nice walk over the fields to the Cedarbarn farm shop and and the best ever sausage roll when you get there.

We have thought of walking there from the village but not got round to it. Considering how meany times we have stayed here we have only walked up to the church. Management was saying she has seen walk information in the laundry today so we will have to adventure further.

Wet and pretty horrible day down here today, plenty to keep me busy indoors though. Always fancied visiting Thornton Le Dale if ever I get up country, would have to take a look at Mathewsons although I believe the museum is closed now and the trip advisor reviews recently are pretty awful.
One day maybe scratch head

We stay at Overbrook site because it’s on the edge of the village. Bringing this back to weather we have been here during rough weather. The buses go over the moors to Whitby , Scarborough, Pickering and beyond with nice tea shops and cafes.
Whitby during the week of the mini beast from the east was different. I have seen the place so quiet. shiverraining

How can you review something that's closed? We've been and the collection isn't huge but some rare and beautiful motors, there was no charge but donations for charity.  We stayed on Prospect Farm, a CS around the back of Mathewsons.

I think that was the point, several reports of people driving many miles to see the cars only to find the place closed. No idea if it is correct but it may be closed permanently, anyway I wont be visiting from Cornwall for the day any time soon. smile!
If ever we do venture up that way thanks for the mention of Prospect Farm.

Terrible night, strong winds and heavy rain until 4, brief walk with Tag for his ablutions.
Mathewsons main vehicle storage unit is in Pickering, haven't been to their car museum for years.

Similar to Boaby, strong winds and heavy rain for most of the night. Managed to get shopping in when fairly dry. Butcher said several roads leading into town difficult to pass with deep water.

Weather warning in place here for rest of today so indoor jobs only rainyday

Stay safe.

A bit windy and wet here during the night. The roof and bonnet are covered in pine needles. Going out to the coast today before a pub stop and then home Friday. If it’s not too bad we might manage a short walk this afternoon.sit

Well the weather here at Scarborough North Bay is a bit fresh. The rain has stopped but the wind is causing waves and spray to come on to the road. The bit under the castle, Marine Drive I think, is closed off but we can see four motorhomes parked there next to the facilities block. The words determined but moist come to mind.
We managed a short walk amongst the spray with lots of other doggy walkers. Muttly seemed to quite enjoy the spray. It must be the smell of the sea.
Battened down for lunch and a brew then a pub tea and park up. Not sure were yet.

Horrible wet day yesterday,  torrential rain overnight,  still chucking it down now,  forecast the same for the rest of day. Busy day with engineers today  British Gas annual service to boiler, BT openreach to sort out broadband (they sent broadband engineer on Tuesday, couldn't sort it so now over to Openreach to check lines etc back to box at end of road.) Working from a EE mini hub as they advertise which is working brilliantly .

Back from the early shop, sunny at the moment but some showery clouds around. More pots to move in to the greenhouse and garage though the forecast still looks mild. Van looks like it needs a bath, not so easy without a hosepipe but just another chore after clearing leaves, strimming and mowing. It will all get done eventually.

Heavy rain for 24 hours now and still 7 hours of Amber warning still to go, most Angus roads from town to town blocked with flooding and A90 blocked southbound at Stracathro, and standing water but passable northbound at Forfar. Trains stopped due to landside North of Laurenckirk, and flooding  at Dalgety Bay

Looks like we are cut off today so another say for the house. Checked the garage and summerhouse,  both showing no sign of leaks.

Stay safe

A different day here in Filey. It rained quite hard on a couple of occasions in the night but this morning it’s dried up. The walk along the front to the kiosk at the Cobble was a bit chilly but we manage a cup of tea sat outside.
The waves were still quite big enticing a few surfers and a paddle boarder. They are braver or dafter than me, that is the North Sea.
Muttly was very wary of the big fisherman and the giant lobster. He kept a close eye on them as we walked past.
Filey in the winter has its own special charm. People seem to have more time to say hello. I suppose in the winter they are more likely to be locals. Even there dogs are more friendly. sit
