Re: Weather
Dawn was colourful an hour ago, bright reddish orange sky to the east, you know what they say about red sky in the morning. Strong winds and rain now arrived, likely to be here for several hours. Looks like it will be a bumpy ride down to Edinburgh in the van later on.
Stay safe everyone

Re: Weather
As expected it is dull and grey here this morning, the rain has been light but persistent. That will change as the strong winds blow in the heavy stuff later this morning. Hopefully it will dry up enough for a walk (to the pub?) later.

Re: Weather
The heavy rain has arrived with strong and blustery winds, the van is getting rocked even with the steadies down. Last night we watched the tractor lights of the local potato farmers gathering in their crops, they were working in pitch dark until 10.30pm. Guess they knew there would be no crops harvested today, the fields will be a sea of mud.

Re: Weather
Heavy rain started around midday here and looks set for day. We also had farmers working in the dark last night.
Last day before we head home, 19 days away and not had any bad weather to speak of until today.
Update 3.30 - wish we had steadies, rocking enough to make you feel sick, supposed to die down around 5pm

Re: Weather
Raining and blowing now but a good start with a dramatic sunrise. Managed to get the early shop done, asked the checkout guy which car I had actually bought from the car park when I saw the bill but he didn't seem to understand.
Enjoy the day especially those travelling and take care in these winds.

Re: Weather
Arrived at Edinburgh CMC about half an hour ago, breezy, blue skys and sunshine, drive down was a different matter, strong wind, torrential rain and lots of surface water. Couldn't hear any squeaks or rattles in the van due to noise of rain and wind pummeling the van.

Re: Weather
Safe travels Paul. Never heard the rain, bright and sunny now with occasional showers. Pretty cold, although it's good walking weather. If it stays like this I may even fire up the BBQ later.

Re: Weather
Yes, safe travels to all on the road.
Nice start to the day blue skies with a little cloud, instructed this morning I am pulling up montbretia which seems to have overtaken a large area of the garden. Funny thing is we lived in Sussex for a few years and it wouldn't grow at all, it is like a weed here.
Have a great day all

Re: Weather
As per typical Deepdale weather the wind and rain started just after we arrived and the wind really got going. I always forget the wind is mostly from the south west and should park facing that way. No matter we survived and it’s been a lovely bright if breezy day today.
We managed a walk up on to the common and sat having lunch above Burnham Staith. Of course we had to call at the Crab Shack for a fishy butty to keep for managements lunch tomorrow. I will stick to ham and pickle because fish is not good for me.
The walk back along the board walk was very pleasant in the afternoon sun. Muttly met a few dogs out enjoying the weather and managed to be sociable with them. His grumpy old man attitude seems to be warring off.

Had showers on A66 and A685 but once on M6 it was warm sunny and pleasant driving, heavy traffic in opposite direction further down , maybe heading for Blackpool hallucinations.Paulmold wrote:Milder this morning, no rain, blue sky, hope stays that way for journey home today.

Much better night and morning, bright sunshine with a bit of a breeze but temperature above 10degrees.
Gentle drive around Fife coast today, tea from chippy at St Andrews to be eaten on West sands, then 40 minutes home

Re: Weather
Another bright start to the day. We were awoken to a squadron of geese going past. They live in the marshes across the road from here so it’s to be exspected.
Off to Great Yarmouth this morning to have a walk through the gardens and tea at a nice kiosk. Last time we were there they had a dog library of toys for dogs to borrow for playing on the beach.
Tonight we will move to Goreslston to park up for night the hopefully.

Re: Weather
Yes, what BB said Looks a a good day for a walk through the local nature reserve. Yesterday the recording of sighting in the Scottish Ornathologist Club included one for @ 8000 pink footed geese We had a walk to the nearby Gosford house which has a large pond in the grounds. Imagine our surprise to see an otter in the water. No, we hadn't been drinking and yes, I did confirm with the park ranger

Re: Weather
We drove from Tayport , through St.Andrews, Crail, Anstruther to Elie. Had 'fish supper' from 'The Wee Chippy' in Anstruther , window sign claiming best in 2020, 2021 and 2022. If that was cod or haddock, I'm a dutch uncle. It was only listed as 'fish and chips' but I'm guessing whiting or pollock.Bilbobaggins wrote:

Anyway, back home now, very warm night, bright sunny morning, third load of washing already on.

Out of the two we prefer Gorleston, worth a wander around, better than most would think. Pier hotel is good too.Dave 418 wrote:Another bright start to the day. We were awoken to a squadron of geese going past. They live in the marshes across the road from here so it’s to be exspected.

Re: Weather
Started out wet, an hour later and we have clear blue skies. Forecast to stay like that so it is back to clearing montbretia for the second day, now have a seven foot trailer load piled as high as I can reach ready for the recycling depot.
Have a great day all and enjoy those travels.
