Phone charging in my new Symbol
There seems nowhere in my van to charge my phone. It seems I can only charge it when driving or stationary with the engine switched on.
Am I missing anything?

On hook up, there are plenty of standard plugs to use and on 12v you need to get a cigarette to usb charger.

Our Warwicks were fitted with a USB/230v twin socket which was live on EHU. Do other models not have this?

Re: Phone charging in my new Symbol
With the engine off on your Peugeot the 12V and two USB will be unpowered. Only when you activate your EC700 system will the habitation's 12V and single USB socket (my guess single here) will have power.
Glyne has fitted a an extra Berker usb socket fed from the leisure battery that is independent of the Sargent EC700 system. I plan to do likewise. I'd already fitted 12V socket behind the driver's seat that is powered from the leisure battery.
Nanny state, you can't be trusted not to flatten your batteries so they make it a bit difficult to charge your phone. Think outside their box.

Re: Phone charging in my new Symbol
I was quite shocked to find no USB sockets in the habitation area of my 2018 Symbol, I fitted a couple in the first week of ownership.
It’s even more shocking if that’s still the case in a 2021 van!

Re: Phone charging in my new Symbol
Here is my solution, temporary at the time will be tidied soon!!
The box has a cigar lighter input, I cut it off and hard wired it to the leisure battery via a 15A fuse
Now has a built in digital voltmeter, 3, individually, switchable 12v sockets and 4 USB sockets, one high power
We can now, simultaneously charge 2 x phones, 2 x tablets and our Mifi. We generally do this in transit so everything is full at destination which is where we need them
We have solar so never have to worry about discharging the LB.
Can't remember where I got it from ebay somewhere but circa £12

Thank you. I have no idea how to do any of your great suggestions. Does anyone live near Canterbury who can help me?

The black and white box in the pic above comes with a cigar lighter plug on it, you simply plug it into the vehicle 12v lighter socket and that's it, just plug your phone or whatever into the appropriate socket, Robert's yer Daddies Brother!!
Google this, even simpler one...on EBay £5:95!

Re: Phone charging in my new Symbol
I was going to suggest something similar Ian that simply plugs into the habitation 12v socket. The only problem I can see is that the Symbol only has one 12v socket which is usually used for the TV. Therefore some kind of doubler would also be needed for that.

Re: Phone charging in my new Symbol
That’s exactly how I’ve managed, with a 12V adaptor which has 2xUSB-A and also a higher powered USB-C socket. Eventually I’ll add something more permanent, but it hasn’t really been an issue, despite not bothering with EHU for a couple of weeks and therefore not being able to use the conventional mains charger.Dbvwt wrote:I was going to suggest something similar Ian that simply plugs into the habitation 12v socket. Check this on Amazon
The ashtary on the Warwick was a big lidded cup.
When binned this fitted perfectly.
Used 12v sockets for sat nav and dash cam
USB's for phones etc
A tip
Car or van cigarette lighters don't use the same sockets as 12v items. 12v Planet does this correct plug to use a lighter socket as a power supply..

USB adapter
Sorry I do not have a photo , but it looks like the base of a reading light and just twists into the power rail. I will try to find out where it came from.
