High winds forecasted for an hour around 8 tonight,so wrapped up the windbreak, dark grey skies looking out over the moors .
Time for a scone I think.
Have a nice night.

Hope the hols are going well everyone.
Sunshine and showers the order of the day down here, off to Falmouth now for decorating supplies and whilst there may just be forced to get the essential cup of Costa coffee!
Have a good day all

Re: Weather
Thanks GH All going well although we head home tomorrow. Had a walk in the dry yesterday before the heavens opened and it rained for a couple of hours. Just made it back to the van from another walk through the woods this morning before a heavy shower. Forecast is for more of the same today so we won't be venturing very far. Can't believe how prevalent Goldfinches have become, lost count of how many we've seen. Today's tally included (apart from the usual suspects) a roe deer, Siskins, Blackcaps and a Thrush having a bath in a puddle.

Re: Weather
Dry start to the day with some sunny breaks but rain is on the way for the far SW later so we will cop it. Time to get the van out first though for a quick run to the beach, coffee and straight home again before it rains. Better weather on the way hopefully later this week.
Safe journeys to those away!

Re: Weather
Askit.....Tony.... been away for a couple of days so not sure where your "awayday" has been. Just back from a trip down Dumfries and Galloway..... left on Friday and did two nights at Craigie Gardens in Ayr. * Inappropriate Word * weather on the way down but fine after that. Walked into Ayr and also the River Trail . On to New England Bay and did the Mull of Galloway lighthouse ... wonderful scenery with all these rolling fields and colourful cattle. Big areas of cloud and dumps of rain on the way home, but came up the Clyde Coast the whole way and scenery wonderful. Nice to get behind the wheel again.

Re: Weather
Bob, I was just along the road from your house
We were at Bair Drummond for a long weekend to see how things were in the van (and our legs ) after the winter, not too far but far enough to feel like you are away. On Friday we just had some smirry rain, Saturday was really warm and there was enough dry weather on Sunday and Monday to get some walking in. There were a couple of heavy downpours but we were lucky enough to be in the van when they happened. Home now but still showers

Re: Weather
Much better morning, a bit of rain overnight but dry enough to get on and forecast is improving picture all week. Managed to get out in the van yesterday which was great but had a job to park in Falmouth. Back to working outside now though, must get as much done this week as possible after losing so much of May for the weather.

I must have been living in a parallel universe, square sausage, had to google that one! Glad you are back home safe and sound Boaby.
Turned out a really good day down here and is now a lovely clear blue sky evening, should be good for lots of stars tonight but forecast says chance of frost!! We are in a bit of a frost pocket where we live so hope not the plants will not be happy!

Re: Weather
A nice bright but chilly start today. I was awake early even though our resident blackbird was missing this morning so I got up and sat with muttly with the dinning room door open until breakfast time.
Hopefully it will stay dry this afternoon so I can walk into town rather than taking the car. I have an eye test booked. I can’t remember how long I have had my latest glasses and the lenses are scratched. The optician across the road closed last year
Another local business fallen during the pandemic not to come back sadly.

Re: Weather
I had many happy years as a child on holiday in Bridlington. We stayed on the caravan park (renting) in Sewerby. This was when the snicket down to the cliffs was kept tidy and not overgrown, you could walk into Sewerby Hall for free around the back, and the harbour was old school, undeveloped and with an old man who rowed you across to the south pier.burlingtonboaby wrote:Another wet night at Whitby, dreich low cloud morning, had a couple of rolls and square sausage and decided to return to Bridington

Re: Weather
It was lovely and warm here yesterday, I had an appointment on the other side of town and it was odd to see folk wandering about in summer clothes Back to normal today with showers forecast for later but at least it's mild and the picture is an improving one
Boaby, we watched that too and I was wondering how you would be feeling about it. GH, square sausage is not a new phenomenon. Not sure of the origin but it's been about since well before I was born. It's a topic on almost every expat "Scottish" forum around the world with people sharing sources and recipes. A friend used to run a Scottish shop in Canada and it was one of his best sellers
