Looks like a decent day in prospect. Several blackies in the big tree behind us sorting out their living arrangements for the spring Eventually they paired up and went off in different directions

A little mixed first thing, little bit of cloud but looks promising for the rest of the day. Not a lot of interest in the new nest boxes yet but early days!

We have two pairs of Blackies in our side boundary hedge, nests are lined with Tags surplus combed out coat.Askit wrote:Looks like a decent day in prospect. Wrens are in the wee nest boxes.
Still cold, although nice and sunny, frost thawing from cars and shed roofs.
Have a nice day.

Collect some dry moss GH, or sheep wool from fences, ideal nesting material for birds. .groundhog wrote:A little mixed first thing, little bit of cloud but looks promising for the rest of the day. Not a lot of interest in the new nest boxes yet but early days!

They certainly have no shortage of moss, the rooves of the house are covered in it, can't think where the nearest sheep is though!
Turned out to be another lovely day, stubbies on again so busy day in the garden then cleaned and polished the car.

Re: Weather
Cold frosty morning, starlite sky, bird bath and frog pond are frozen again.
Nice dawn chorus, really getting the Blackies in tune now,
See if you can dry the moss off GH, leave in in the sun ,when dry tuck it under bush or something near the feeders.
Plenty of sheep on Dartmoor, Bodmin moor Hog.

Re: Weather
Dry morning but can't report further as we have thick mist reducing visibility. Hopefully it will burn off as I have a busy day ahead.

Re: Weather
Overcast this morning after a couple of really nice days, cool easterly breeze as well. Thinking today might be a lazy day, someone has to do it. Pair of Jays scrapping over the feeders this morning, lots of pigeons around, a few smaller birds of various types, they have sunflower hearts, niger seeds, fat balls, peanuts and some mixed grain in three different locations so should have enough to keep them going. Sunflower hearts seem to be the most popular.
Have a great day all!

Re: Weather
Dull flat day, bit on the cool side but at least it's dry. Forecast is for it to get colder over the next few days so might have to dig the thermals out again

Overcast and cool, no real rain for ages, hosepipe out this morning to water the potted plants, refill the bird bath after a big Doo emptied it.

Re: Weather
The weather’s certainly taken a u turn here this week. I tried to motivate myself to spend time in the Worksop Sunday, difficult after loosing muttly. Even with the heater on I only managed a couple of hours before my feet were starting to ache even with thick socks.
We walked up to the pharmacy yesterday to pick up managements tablets coming back the long way. It was cold and misty all the way round. Today hasn’t started much better. Even the garden squadron of birds are hiding from the weather.

Re: Weather
Tag would need his umbrella down here today, sunny one minute hammering down with rain the next! Bought a load of wood yesterday to make two ledge and brace doors for access to storage areas outside, looks like dodge the shower day to make any progress.
11.15 will have to have a look at what Rishi has to say, though frankly with all the predictions and forecasts I think I already know!
