Re: Weather
All our snow has gone, washed away by the overnight rain. Dry and bright now, temperature is a heady 5°c. Might take off my woolly hat

Re: Weather
It definitely warmer here and the rain has washed away the bit of snow and ice from our garden. I wouldn’t say spring has arrived yet. I have seen it snow at Easter.
One nice thing with the patches of snow melting we can see the new dafs and tulips appearing and the bird bath has thawed. Our resident blackbird was in it this morning having a good splash.

Re: Weather
Really mild this morning and bright if not sunny skies, looks like a good morning for a walk. The screens have been on the van all Winter so may come off today for a good scrub and clean. One of the joys of living this far west in Cornwall is the Winters are so mild, the bad news is everything gets covered in mould.
Getting quite a few birds back in the garden now, they are loving the new sunflower seeds so have a small wire tray attached to the feeders with sunflower and niger seeds and a mix of mealworms and suet.......they eat as well as we do!

Yes, GH, we actually have sunshine now...may even take the bikes out. It's been far too cold of late and daily exercise has been au pied.

I know, I didn't know he still worked shifts?Paulmold wrote:Check the times of Boabys posts!bolero boy wrote:"Thick fog rolled in before 6 this morning"... How could you possibly know this, lol
He certainly operates in a different time zone to this long retired chap.
I do the weekly shop for my 95 yr old godfather and he's up at 6:30 latest.
When I drop the shopping off around 11:30 he's having his lunch! We would have only just had breakfast.
Beautiful day today, just had 20 miles on the bike in lovely sunshine, and lunch at 1:30, lol.
Just clouding over a bit now. So glad we got up early and got going!!

Not working Chris, I like to take my dog Tag out early before the dog walkers hit the beach ,otherwise we end up in a dog fight.bolero boy wrote:I know, I didn't know he still worked shifts?Paulmold wrote:Check the times of Boabys posts!bolero boy wrote:"Thick fog rolled in before 6 this morning"... I've always been an early riser our first ferry of the Isle of Bute was 05.30, I was in Glasgow by 8a.m.
Turned out a nice afternoon,

Re: Weather
Another early walk with Tag, although milder with a south westerly breeze it's damp and muddy now all the ice has melted.
I'm in the same time zone as everyone else, just like the piece and smells of an early morning walk.
Love the dawn chorus ,Mavis starting to call , frogs are heading back to the garden pond.
Have a nice day.

Re: Weather
I like that time in the morning too but only if I'm still in my scratcher Know what you mean about going out walking at that time though, done it a few times to get early morning photos. Much milder today but cloudy with rain threatening. Wee birds starting to get more active. Magpies look like they've been to Jewsons with the size of the nest building material they're shifting.

Re: Weather
Have to agree with Boaby, best time of the day although I am not as good at it as he is. Our dog passed away a few years ago now (keeshond) so one less excuse for getting out of bed.
Light cloud cover today and very mild, 12 degrees on the thermometer at 0800hrs, off to the tip with a large trailer load of stuff then get some fuel for the mowers and blowers!
Stay safe all, things will only get better

Re: Weather
Oh, don't get me wrong guys, I like an early morning stroll from time to time, but not in the UK in February when there's a stiff Easterly blowing...far more 'comfortable' with a 2nd cuppa with the OH:up!:
However, sunrise on a 'normal' February on one of the Costas is lovely with my Tai Chi class on the beach and then a run along the prom.

Re: Weather
Overcast but bright here and a lot warmer than the last few week. I need to turn the heater down in the shed, workshop and the Rienza. I think it would a good time to turn the battery charger off and leave the solar panel to own thing.
Whilst I am in the workshop I might have some time checking the castings I had been given for my birthday. It will be a distraction for while untill we get out again.
My sister thinks it would be silly to move until Easter to allow the virus to slow down and better weather to start.

Re: Weather
Dry this morning so had a stroll, then lunch and after there was a sunny window and I managed to mow and swim two lawns...
Just come in for a cuppa as things looked a bit darker...
Wow! In seconds we are now in the most savage thunder, lightening and hail storm...madness!

Re: Weather
Heavy showers overnight, cleared by 4.30, muddy along the coastal path, rinsed Tag of ( underneath Body and feet) towelled down before his breakfast.
Clear sky, light breeze, Mavis leading the dawn chorus, picked up two dead male blackbirds of the road this morning, lots of vehicles on the move.so much for lockdown.

Re: Weather
A nice start to the day so did the usual loop round the village, raining now though. Just topped up the bird feeders, getting better at identifying them now, all the usual suspects plus a nuthatch and dunnock on the sunflower hearts today. Squirrels are being a pest though as ever.
