My wife makes her own Cherry and Sultana cakes so no black bun here. Aldi and Lidl were very quiet and both had plenty of everything including large stacks of both toilet roll and kitchen paper. Tesco was also well stocked but it was really busy
I retired 13 years ago, what's work

Cold, clear starlite morning, frost and black ice on the surfaces, first grittier I've seen this year.

Hard frost again this morning, fox footprints across the snow in our back garden. Hope it has somewhere warm to sleep.

Re: Weather
I thought it was cold on the way back from the workshop this afternoon. The thought of frosty drawers dose nothing for the imagination.
The bin lid was frozen shut tonight and muttly couldn’t stand up on the decking. I am glad I am not working at the roadside doing breakdowns theses days.

Re: Weather
Cold frosty morning, but dry, gritters had been out earlier,so walking without Tag was comfortable.
I don't like walking a dog out on a Haw frost or salty roads, although he gets his feet washed when we return.
Have a nice day.
Bin lids frozen here too Dave.

Re: Weather
Got message from my tracker saying needs charging (simple portable type that I leave in van) so needed to go into van. Side door frozen but the catch unlocked but can't slide open so entered through passenger door, put oil heater on in van to warm it up and hopefully unfreeze door. Now can't lock van up because side door catch was released. Hope it defrosts soon as need to nip to Lidl (once I've defrosted the car). Drive and pavement are treacherous with ice. No way was it only minus 1 last night.

Heavy frost gave way to rain showers around 4 , too slippery to walk on, forecast to shower all day.

Have a good day.

Re: Weather
After a cold crisp night it has gone back to rain here. Our decking is walkable now so muttly can stand up easier now.
Some one had a good time last night because there are the remains of party poppers and fireworks on the decking and the garden.
Proably the bloke two down from us. He ignored the rules about parties and gatherings during the last lockdown. He is not liked by the rest of the street.

Clear sky here too but not so frosty so the new years day walk is on. Pretty quiet last night apart for someone letting off fireworks.

Re: Weather
I'm back bad luck
Frosty morning and a sprinkling of snow hanging about, is this really winter! Van hab door frozen shut today so just put some heat on to warm it up, maybe take the van for a trip to the beach later and have coffee! Rest of the day I have some more bird boxes to put up, looks like being a sunny one at last.
Happy New Year everyone.

Re: Weather
Frost washed away by rain in the night. Someone fairly local went nuts on the fireworks last night, over 150 extremely loud bangs in about 3 minutes, loudest I've ever heard. Quite a bit of blue sky showing at moment, if it stays dry, may venture out for a walk later, after the obligatory 'happy new year' phone calls to the rellies.

Re: Weather
Just back from our walk, still got a clear sky and bright sunshine. I was pleasantly surprised, unlike years previously, by the number of people who wanted to exchange greetings. Sure it won't last Our pavements are treacherous though, especially the parts where snow has melted and has frozen again. Only those on main roads and those around schools seem to get gritted.

Re: Weather
Repeat of yesterday's weather here, clear sky and frosty ground. One forecast (not the beeb) has us getting armageddon from Siberia over the next few days with up to 25cms of snow coming from the east. The BBC forecast is suggesting a cold wind from eastern Europe which might or might not bring snow.

Re: Weather
Thanks Boaby, we are so lucky to have great beaches to walk on if that is your thing, it was a balmy 5 degrees by the water yesterday and there was no swell at all, like a duck pond! Sorry you have rain today, you will have to get Tag his own umbrella!
Blue skies and cumulonimbus here so hoping to get out and finish building the owl boxes, we have tree surgeons coming in this month to take out an ash with dieback and a sickly beech so hopefully they can be bribed to place the boxes for me, too old now for climbing trees
Enjoy the rest of your day!
