I have a full or large step at the rear. I Dont want it, any reason not to get rid of it?

Re: symphony rear step
There was one on ours when we got it, Dot liked it but I thought it was a nuisance.
One of the mounting lugs broke off eventually, so I removed the step and have never fixed it. Access to the spare is much better without it.

Removed ours as it 'caught on the driveway' when reversing bessie out. No probs. a folding step would surfice if it became a prob.

Re: symphony rear step
Hello there.
our current van came without a step at the rear, but our previous van had one, and after walking into it and banging shins, we removed it and stored it in the garage, only bolting it back on when we part exchanged it seven years later.
the bolts were very stiff though being 'nyloc' types, so at least it will build up your biceps undoing them.

Hi there,
"Petal" has a towing hitch so the rear step was located in the overhead locker when we bought her.
There is a tiny fibre-glass step that fits round the tow-ball and allows us to get in and out - if needs be!
With the Duetto the rear-door access is essential when the bed is down in either the "two-single" or "one-double" format as the side door is blocked and you have to be particularly supple to get out of the front doors!
So, in answer to your question - make sure that you can still get in and out when you want to; especially in an emergency!
Best regards,

Just for the record, you can get/I fitted a Boxer van towbar which is available with extra 9" reach to clear the rear step. So you can have a rear step and a towbar at the same time. The bar was a standard item made by Watling Engineers [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and has been fine for years on our Harmony, long after the original (MDF) rear step rotted to nothing.
