Auto-Sleeper Duetto water heater
Good Afternoon everybody.
Almost resolved my 12 v problem with the relay switch and fuses- but cannot get the water heater to work (it does on the mains) I can hear the ignition switch clicking but it doesn't ignite- the good book says wait 15 mins and try again-tried that a number of times and still not working.
Any suggestions for a complete mechanical/useless Luddite- really gratefully received.

Duetto water heater
Hi Badger
Presume you are talking about the gas side?
Maybe air in the system.
Light a burner on the gas stove and then try again?

Check that ALL gas-valves are open, mine, & presumably all, have independant vales for, fridge, cooker, heating & hot water.

Re: Auto-Sleeper Duetto water heater
Hi Badger.
It does sound like no gas is getting to the heater burner. Possible its got a blocked jet, if so don't try and poke it out with wire. Try and blow the blockage out. Replacement jets are about £12 Marquis normally stock them. As already said it could also just be turned off or have air in the gas pipe. The clicking sound is the igniter sparking. If heater has got a gas supply but is not lighting, the igniter might have a crack in its ceramic section making it spark in the wrong place. These heaters are fairly basic and most things can be done from outside of the van after you remove the flue cover.
Good Luck. Whisky.

Re: Auto-Sleeper Duetto water heater
On our Duetto (2005) if the little kitchen window was open the gas wouldn't work. Something to do with possible fumes. The was a little sensor on the switch.
Not sure whether this helps ?

Hi Badger.
The thermocouple has gone. Its the probe that sits in the flame when the burner is alight. When it gets hot the other end becomes magnetic and thats what keeps the gas valve open. Relatively cheap to buy and quite simple to fit. Do not overtighten the gas valve end.
Good Luck. Whisky.

Hi Badger.
Oops. Sorry looks like I've got my water heaters mixed up. The carver hasn't got a separate thermo-couple. Its an integral part of the burner module. Quite a bit more expensive to buy, but still an easy fix done from the outside of the van. Gary from ARC SYSTEMS supplies both new and reconditioned modules. The daftest thing is that I have fitted this type of module before so should have Known better. The only thing that you have to be careful about is making sure that the gasket seal between the replacement module and the heater body is intact.
Sorry to have misinformed you. Whisky.

Just a thought badger,
Check that your leisure battery has enough charge in it.
I did have experience when my heater would fire up for a few seconds and then cut out.
Worked ok on hookup.
Turned out the leisure battery was low on charge.

Hi is it a carver 2GE, if it is take off the outer cover and look at the burner module, I had a similar problem where the burner would light for a few seconds and then go out, on inspection the end of the burner module had rusted away (only thin metal) took out the module refashioned a end plate from scrap metal attached to end of burner module put it all back and worked like a charm and still going strong
