Duetto swivel driver seat.
Has any one out there fitted a swivel plate to the drivers seat on a Duetto? I know may be an issue with hand brake but think i could work round that.my van is a 2007 mk7.

I presume it's the same as any Mk6/7 Transit driver's seat. I had an '06 Mk6 Transit campervan with swivels on both cab seats. No issues as far as I recall, though the handbrake had to be lowered to allow it to swivel - oh and I think I recall the door had to be opened too.

I would think you will need to modify the offside longitudinal seat/bed in a big way as well as moving the handbrake.

I agree, to miss contact with the offside bench you would need to move the seat to its forward position, but then it would not clear the steering wheel.willconquerer wrote:I would think you will need to modify the offside longitudinal seat/bed in a big way as well as moving the handbrake.
A tricky modification to manage perhaps?

If you also have to open the door as well in order to swivel the seat then surely that is an issue which is maybe why your seat does not swivel.

Motorhome manufacturers usually fit two swivel seats except where the layout makes it impractical or unnecessary. The opening of the door on Transits is standard procedure on both sides, but having habitation furniture in the way is the usual reason for the driver's seat to remain fixed.

My mk6 (not A/S) Transit had a rotating passenger seat. While this could be rotated with the doors closed it was not easy. With the door open it was simple.Lancky wrote:If you also have to open the door as well in order to swivel the seat then surely that is an issue which is maybe why your seat does not swivel.

Our Mk 7 Duetto passenger seat swivels BUT does not have a lock position facing rearwards!
This is a pain, so thanks to solution created by Peter D, I got some dowel rod, in steel and wood, and made pegs to fit in the 12mm holes either side of the swivel base top. Sorted!!
(mine are not as pretty as Peters but I don't have access to a lathe.

Re: Duetto swivel driver seat.
The Symbol seats swivel but the problem is that you are way too high. The Ayatola is 5 feet 2 inch and her feet don't touch the van floor!! the other problem is, it makes the sun visors unusable, if you do try to use them you find that you can only see about 20 feet in front of the van. This is a bit of a worry when you are doing 65 on the M6.
Remember, you will add a couple of inches to the seat height.

Re: Duetto swivel driver seat.
Answer is to to have a lower seat base, which I put in my van, brings the swivel seat the same height as a fixed seat,
but due to the furniture my seat wouldn`t go round far enough to the rear so I took it out. went back to original.
