Driver’s swivel seat Autosleeper Dorset 2013
Hi am just checking that I’m not missing something with the driver’s seat swivelling. I can only seem to turn it just past a quarter - so it faces the rear passenger seat behind the driver’s seat - otherwise the base hits the side of the sofa bed. Is this correct? The front passenger seat turns all the way to face the rear as there’s nothing to stop it. Julie

Don’t know if the setup is the same in your van, but on mine it’s necessary to slide the seat backward to maximum before swivelling it. Then, after rotating it I slide it forward again.
Sometimes the swivel lock also re-engages when the seat has only rotated by 90 degrees. Need to release it before continuing.

Thank you Cymro, I’ve tried that but on looking again it’s the seat base that hits the sofa not the seat cushion.

On my 2008 Symbol the driver seat just turns 1/4 - can then use as bed extension or seat.

Thank you Spoonvet. Does it hit the sofa otherwise?

Re: Driver’s swivel seat Autosleeper Dorset 2013
I have a 2014 Symbol (which I think is the same layout as the Dorset).
The driver's seat does swivel fully, but... I have to:
1. Drop the steering wheel (there's a lever underneath) into the dashboard fully
2. Turn the little wheel to lower the back of the seat towards the seat cushion
3. Slide the base fully towards the front of the van
4. Lower the handbrake handle (making sure to put the van in gear and having put a chock under a wheel)
5. Turn the seat base anticlockwise (if you were sitting on it) until it's facing the back of the van
6. Engage the handbrake
7. Adjust the seat back to suit.
I do this from outside the van, from the driver's door. Takes a few goes to get used to it.
The seat base did catch the wooden bulkhead slightly but I used a Dremmel attachment on the affected area to prevent this happening again.
The only problem is if parked on a slope - releasing the handbrake could cause problems - so take care there. I also have a bit of red card that I put on the steering wheel at the start of the process - that reminds me to raise it again when finished.

A point that hasn’t been mentioned yet is which model Dorset/Symbol you have?
Please correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t it around 2013 that the high roof model with the floor at one level was replaced with the stepped floor current model? I’m sure the swivel method will vary depending on model type.

Ahh, no point me going out to the van and adding my tuppence worth to the helpful replies already given as I’ve got the stepped version.
The same level one you have is well liked by many, good luck finding a solution.

Excellent point! I have the stepped version so none of what I've said may apply... Good luck anyway:-)Dbvwt wrote:A point that hasn’t been mentioned yet is which model Dorset/Symbol you have?

Hi all thank you for trying to help. I have tried again and it definitely doesn’t turn the whole way as the seat base hits the wood side of the sofa. Not an issue, was just curious.
