Trident, Leaking Window! Empty Trident, Leaking Window!

Post by Chris152 Tue Aug 12, 2014 5:28 pm

Hello all. New to the forum and just bought a 1998 Trident a couple of weeks ago and with the heavy rain, water is leaking between one sliding window and the body. I can't see anything obvious - Do I need to get the window removed and have it resealed? I know it's hard to say as you can't see it, but as far as I can tell there's nothing to see! Any experiences?
Thanks, Chris

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum  wave .
I don't know anything about Tridents but I feel sure that this subject has been discussed before. Try using the search function to see what it comes up with.

Hi Chris

When you have a few moments why not give a brief introduction here...

That`s a better way of saying it.

Thanks all.

On reflection, I guess they're standard Transporter window van windows, so maybe best check a T4 forum.

I've got a Symphony and have leaks all over the place when we have heavy or persistent rain. Strangely, it never leaks in the same place twice so the points of entry are very hard to track down!

Hi Chris
Used to own VW Californias.
Leaking side windows is a common problem on the VW Transporter.
I cured mine by using silicone grease and applying it to the rubber seal with a cotton bud, after first cleaning. Usually only needed to do it along the bottom and just a couple of inches up the side.
Knew a few who had new windows installed under warranty only to get the problem re-occurring.

Worth a try for the cost of a tube of silicone grease, worked for me.
