Re: Return of peugot jerking/missing
Just a quick query folks ,I am going to change the coil pack on van as already changed leads and plugs when funds allow next week, but when I just had quick look one bolt is missing completely and one star will undo and someone before me has tried to remove other bolts and mangled them . I was thinking when I got new part of breaking the plastic around screws to get them out .can I do any damage to anything under the cap by doing this .not seen under a coil pack before .i used to do the old dizzys 20 year ago .thanks

Are you sure its the coil pack? have you tested the resistances? It could work out very expensive, just swapping bits on a whim.Plynch2002 wrote:Just a quick query folks ,I am going to change the coil pack on van as already changed leads and plugs when funds allow next week,

Mine were a bit like that, I cut a slot across the top to get a flat bladed srewdriver in. the back two are swines to get to.

Its a sealed unit which just unbolts, there is no mechanical attachment or drive to it like a dizzy and there are no mechanical bits inside, just two double ended ignition coils and a bit of circuitry.

Hi Frank ,thanks for info ,I was only thinking along the lines it was the last of the main electrical items on van , I am going to have look in dark first to see if I can see any tracking .unfortualey because I've not needed to work on cars the last twenty odd years I not got the testers or tools that I need ,also am finding the more I delve into van there are bolts missing or things have been bodged up. I need van to be reliable as use for work and go at times of no public transport and out into the sticks ..

You can get a cheap multimeter for £5 - £6 nowadays which will be good enough to test resistances, voltage etc.. and will pay for itself in no time.
