Return of peugot jerking/missing
Hi I had loads of help last time ,I use a petrol autosleeper daily for work as well as motor homing .when we got van it was jerking when warm and after good advice from this forum changed the stepper motor was replaced. All was well until this week when accelerating the van is missing or jerking again and seems to loose power. Tick over is fine for a tapperty old engine .i have disconnected stepper motor with no change ,changed spark plugs with no change. When up to speed it is ok .it happens whether engine warm or cold.it seems only when accelerating or going uphill .not changed leads or dizzy cap yet. .dont want to keep changing parts and no difference due to funds .Also probably by chance the speedo has packed up as well .i presume these are cable though .its a 1996 petrol engine 2ltre.....
Thanks for any help....

You'll have a job changing the dizzy cap - it ain't got one
Check that the plug wells don't have water in them and try cleaning the injectors, leave them soaking in injector cleaner for a couple of hours or use an ultrasonic cleaner if you have one.

Re: Return of peugot jerking/missing
Hi Boxerman, when I was writing the topic I could not remember what the cap was called (I remember now the coil pack) .i never changed injectors before are they easy to take out ( when we got van there were some injectors in a bag they look new or refurb ones but got no idea if they are the correct ones). The jerking is not the same as before when the stepper motor was as fault. Have cleaned spark plug wells when I changed plugs .thanks for help Frank much appreciated.

Not sure how efficient it is but have you tried putting injector cleaner in with the petrol? Might be worth a try if you are hesitant about taking the injectors out.

The injectors are held in with a "yoke" between a pair held by a nut. Remove nut & yoke then ease injectors out, be careful, the manifold is plastic and the injectors can be quite tight. Don't try to pull them out by the wire and be careful that you don't get sprayed with petrol when the first one comes out.

It could be what a milkmaid uses to carry two milk pails, or it could be something to hitch a pair of oxen to a wagon or plough.
But in this case it's a lump of metal wot is shaped at each end to hold an injector in position with a hole in the middle for a stud/nut.

Hi Spray that distributer with WD 40. You may have tracking on the cap. May need a new one if tracking inside.
Could you look at night ? Maybe see something.
I am sure this is a Electrical fault.

Mike

Is your van RWD? If so, are you sure that the issue is not the engine/gearbox mounts? If the rear mount fails (as happened to me on a previous van) you can get a very pronounced juddering under load at low revs, which typically vanishes as soon as revs pick up.

Re: Return of peugot jerking/missing
That disc I sent you has ECU error codes on it and how to read them, it's worth checking to see if there are any errors showing.
You said that the clip was missing on one of the injector connectors, could that have a poor connection?
There are resistance values on the disc in the diagnostic section so's you can check out the coil pack and all the other sensors.
It could be a faulty sensor, or a poor connection. Have you checked the plugs?
Frank

Hi thanks Mike Frank Mojo for yours replies and time. Yes have already put new plugs in on Weds, I am going to see if I can use a plastic tie to tighten connection .with having it checked for ECU codes will have to wait till payday in ten days( wonder what's it like to be rich) .mike was thinking along your lines either tonight or tomorrow going to try and check for any sparks when dark
With regards to mount ins there doesn't seem to be any dramatic free play .
