Fitting 3 way seat belts to a Rambler
Hi,
I currently have a T25 Autosleeper Trident which has two 3-way seat belts fitted for our cheeky nippers in the back. I'm starting to think that a van with a different layout might suit us better, and luxuries such as a separate room for the loo, an oven and hot water are rather inviting. I very much like the look of the Talisman but having done extensive research I think I've deduced that there is no way of fitting 3-way seat belts into such a vehicle due to it being fibreglass walled and not having any fitted anchor points. So now I find myself looking at the Rambler. Whilst it doesn't look quite as snazzy as my T25, the seating layout looks good and it does have the afore mentioned luxuries. So now I need to know if it is possible to fit 3-point seat belts for the two forward facing rear seats. I'm thinking this may be possible as it is a solid van like mine and not fibreglass bodied. Does anyone know if there were factory fitted anchor points or if anyone has successfully done this or got a fitter to do it?
Any advice gratefully received.
Oh.. sorry, my name's Simon by the way, this is my first post here

I think the best bet will be to look at adverts carefully and go and look at some. I'm pretty sure (from photos on the internet) that some Ramblers were fitted with rear belts as standard (for example you can see a belt disappearing into a hole in the side of the offside cupboard on some models - the one I noticed it on was a '93 Talbot-based one).

I would suggest that you ~don't~ consider trying to have them retro-fitted. It would almost certainly mean removing a lot of the internal cupboards and fittings to get to solid metalwork and then you would be very lucky to find any existing bolt holes in exactly the right place, so you would probably need something to be fabricated and welded in. And then you would need custom length belts made up. None of this is impossible but I suspect it would add up to a significant amount of money to do.

Sorry, can't agree with you about seatbelts in the Talisman, by '3 way' I assume you mean 3 point, well ,if you look carefully at this pic, you can just see the belts coming down from the reels by the curtains & behind the cushions, they are, in fact, full lap & diag just as in a car, & have the correct type iso fixtures to steel space-frame behind.
Only the 2 front-facing seats have belts, the 2 rears facing do not.

Hmmm.. very interesting. Yes I did mean 3 point not 3 way. I'm wondering what year the Talisman in that picture is? Did Autosleeper start fitting them from a certain year? All of the ones I've been looking at and are in my budget (early 90's) certainly don't have any 3 point seat belts. I actually much prefer the decor of the earlier models so my dream would be to have one of those with 3 point seat belts. Sadly none seem to exist and I've definitely read people saying it would be a bad / dangerous idea to try getting them fitted. If I thought it could be done properly and safely I'd be snapping one up straight away. Otherwise I'm on the hunt for a Rambler with factory fitted 3 pointers like the one in mojo's post.

The pic is inside mine an old 1998 & its the one shown on my avatar.
Sorry, I assumed (wrongly) that they all had seatbelts.

I have a 99 Rambler on boxer chassis. The forward looking seat by sliding door has a 3 point belt, but the settee seats have only got lap straps . We are just selling our T25 and will be very sad to see it go, having travelled all over Europe in it.
