Has anyone changed the lapbelts on a trooper to 3 point belts? Is it possible and what are typical costs involved?

You can get some idea of what's involved by looking at how they do it on the later vans, for example here:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

The difficulty will probably be in finding sufficiently strong mounting points on the side and roof - easy enough to fit to a van before it's converted by A-S but may be a pain when the units are in place.

Presumably it's a T4 based Trooper?

Thank you mojo for the link, I will look at this, it is a 1992 T4 trooper.

My brother-in-law has had 3 point belts fitted all round in his split screen VW, so they can use baby/child seats, so I should be possible in your van.

I fitted 3 point belts into the rear of my car around three years ago using products from Securon (I think I used one of their universal kits).

Ah yes - last time I enquired, Securon were very helpful and made up some custom-length inertial reel belts for one of my cars.

I still have a suspicion that the units on the drivers side will give some grief in picking up a strong enough upper fixing point - you only have to look at what current T5 conversions involve to get an idea of how complicted that can get!
