We want to attach a Fiamma F45 awning and would like to know if the brackets could be attached with Pop Rivets rather than bolted through

Don't think pop rivets would be strong enough, the awnings are quite heavy.
I think they would need to be bolted through with spreader plates on the inside.

Agreed - even the smallest F45's weigh not far short of 40 kilos, and pop rivets have a habit of slowly working their way out if repeatedly flexed.

Mine is bolted in place, with spreader plates.

Don't use pop rivets as per the suggestions above

Autosleeper fitted internal mounting plates inside the roof side behind the wall carpeting stuff at the point of manufacture. An experienced awning fitter will (or should) know this and also know exactly where they are located as 'levelling blocks' have to be attached to these plates to square off the awning (putting it at a 90 degree angle).

If unsure about this, contact AutoSleeper and they will explain to you.

Whatever you do....don't pop rivet an awning on!!

fiamma awning Empty Fiamma fibreglass roof fixing kit

Post by rdlb Sun Jun 23, 2013 8:46 pm

Fiamma seem to have a fibreglass roof fixing kit which uses screws and adhesive (Sika252) to fix to the side of the roof ( and to adjust for the angle of the side of the roof). Has anyone used this system to fit a F45 awning. Does it work?
