Fiamma awning?
Our T4 Trident Van is new to us and does not have any rail to take an awning. Is it OK to screw a c section on? How /where do we do this without causing a hole in the van roof?!

I'm assuming that like other high top van conversions, you have a black surround covering the join of roof to van. These normally have a recess around the entire length which is perfect to attach a C or J rail to.

Re: Fiamma awning?
If you mean a Fiamma Caravanstore awning rather than the usual wind out Fiamma, then I have one that slides in a C section rail.
The main disadvantage I have found is the small screw holes in the rail, which limits the size of the screws - and they also have to be fully countersunk to allow the awning to slide along. You need the very longest screws with the smallest c/s head !
Also required is some additional strength via Sikaflex or Tiger Seal.
Basically the C rail is best just to secure a driveaway awning in place, rather than support a heavier awning whilst moving.
Yes, a J section would mean you can use bigger screws - but they will be visible and therefore ugly.
If you are going to use an awning a lot, you might be better with a normal Fiamma awning with stronger fittings, especially as your hightop gives you scope for more permanent mounting.
