fitting a CD Player to a Duetto
I now own a 1996 Duetto and wish to fit my JVC CD Radio in place of the origional Ford Radio. I have been told I have to by-pass the origional amplifier that is fitted. The JVC will not need it for the amount of speakers fitted. Any clues to were it is hiding and what it actualy looks like. The only clue so far is N/S/F foot well/ behind glove box.

CD fitting
I am getting a bit fudled by this saga. My origional radio has one black plastic oblong plug and one small oblong metal plug going into a flat grey wiring loom. Is this the same as every one else or is mine different. It sure has Halfrauds puzled beyond the normal blank exspresion the radio profesionals give me.

there is a couple of yellow plugs you have to connect to that is why you need another set of leads from halfords

Radio Plugs
That sorts one issue. Mine is different in the plug department. Thinks me snip and conecting block next maybe a simple resolve.

Re: fitting a CD Player to a Duetto
I had this problem a few weeks ago.
The standard lead adapter most companies supply won't work because of the metal connector with grey flat wires which goes to the seperate amplifier located under the pull out bits n bobs holder on the passenger side of the dash.
I bought an adapter lead off t'internet at a cost of £20. It said on advert to only use with a non amplified radio, but I ignored this and it works fine.
Would suggest NOT to cut wires unless you really know what you are doing.
Hope this helps

Fitting cd player
I have found the ilusive amplifier. Alongside glove box under lift out storage tray on top of dash. A large ally box with fins on it.This is looking good so all I need to do now is some sniping and joining of wires and all should be well me thinks.

Hmmm... I have a large ally box with fins on it in that location. It's the van's ECU. Don't snipe at that by mistake!

Cutting of Wires
The only wires I am intending to cut are at the radio end of the loom. I do agree that could be an ECU I have found , I only thought it was for the radio because it had the same plug as the one at the back of the radio.
I realy should have bought a workshop manual from the start. It is not helped by the Halfruads idea of ordering me an adapter loom for £40 plus pounds. I will sort this with a few clues from felow bodgers I am sure. Heater blower to be sorted first, only blows on fast,3rd setting. Local autoelectrician doing that as part of the waranty.Still liking the van after a week of onership so thats posative

I'd be interested to hear what the problem turns out to be there.
Mine only works on three of the six speed settings (it has three fresh and three recirculating speeds, slow and fast work on one, only medium on the other). I originally suspected the resistor pack, but tested that, and that's not the problem.
