Fitting blind to Duetto
Hi, does anyone know if its possible to fit a blind to the side sliding door window, thought it might be good to have one there instead of having curtains. Maybe some one has done it?
Mines a 1995 Duetto.

Re: Fitting blind to Duetto
Hi there,
I've thought of the same modification because of the draught that rolls down the window and under the curtain on cold nights.
However, looking at the thickness of the "fly-screen cum blind" on the driver's side, I think it may be too thick to be used on the sliding door without it catching on the side of the van; which is maybe why there isn't one fitted as standard.
On the other hand, it may be possible to sacrifice the fly-screen currently in place and replace it with a blind; but to be honest I'd prefer a fly-screen, especially during the evenings in hot weather!
Best regards,

Ideal for a "blackout" but not much difference from the existing curtains when it comes to a draught.
Last winter we used a silvered sun screen held in place at night with the curtains.
It is similar to this [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The result wasn't as good as I would expect a custom built blind to be but it cut down on the cold air; and acted as a "black-out" to some degree.
Best regards,

That must be the reason. I was surprised to read that you don't have a blind on this window as the Boxer based vans (Symphony, Harmony etc) do.

Yes - my Flair is different in layour than the Duetto, but it's exactly the same on that door, with just the fly screen. However, on mine the poppers for the curtain have been positioned so it has to be pulled very tight - so I get no significant draughts there.
From memory, the Boxer sliding door does sit out further from the side of the van when open than on the Transit.

Talking of curtain poppers, mine are completely mis-aligned on the walls to the curtains, either making them extremely tight or very loose in places, so we never actually use the side ones, just the blinds. We do use the front ones to stop draughts from the air vents on the dash.

Curtain poppers
Our curtains didn't fit either,
Somebody must have taken them down to wash and put them back up the wrong way round.
All sorted now...
Also i ordered some spare poppers from Autosleeper and put extra ones on..
So now we are all nice and cosy...

Oh dear! I have just had a Homer Simpson "Doh!" moment.
We lived in "Petal" all through last winter and I can't remember shutting the dashboard vents even when the temperature dropped!
In fact it took me until late December to remember to fit the covers to the fridge vents!
Thanks for that, I'll tie a knot in something to remember.

Hi
I visted the caravan salon exhibition in dusseldorf last month and the solution to your query (and mine) is about to be solved.
the company who market the blind / full height flyscreen for the side door is REMIS...a well known german brand.
this retro fit product will be available early 2013.
I fitted remis concertina blinds to our Warwick Duo... cab side windows and windscreen and this has proved much better than flapping old fashioned curtains....great for sunshade as well (just returned from marbella and madrid.
i have fitted a swivel cab seat (passenger side) so at night i have a seperate room ( no curtains blanking off the cab)...again a useful mod.
remis blinds were fiited to my van at the factory (retro fit)...fair price and excellent service.
regards geoff

Sounds good
That sounds like a good product Geoff, I found a product called RImis take-n-Trim and wondered if that would fit?

According to the fitting instructions here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I think it would stop your sliding door from opening?Paulwest55 wrote: I found a product called RImis take-n-Trim and wondered if that would fit?

Re: Fitting blind to Duetto
With our beige Duetto we had the same and our way round it was to buy a windscreen cover from the £1 shop, unpick the binding, cut to size, resew binding. Then it slotted inside the fly screens for night time darkness.
I have spent a lot of time unpicking £1 blinds and renewing them. We made them for all windows in the van to use on the drive. As we didn't want to stretch the roller blinds.
