Reversing camera
Hi, I need to fit a new CD player in my 1995 Duetto, but I am also considering a reversing camera as well, so I thought of combining the two with a Ripspeed DVD740 from Halfords, as it has a pop out screen, so I was wondering if anyone has done the same?

Interesting idea Paul, if you are happy with that kind of setup I see no idea why not

Yea I have seen this setup in a same age transit van and it seems to work well, just wondered if any members had done it in their rigs.

I purchased a ripspeed unit about 5 years ago for a clubman to use the motorised display as a rear view facility, fed by a camos camera. It’s a neat solution BUT these ripspeed units are really unreliable; which is why they are so cheap compared to other manufacturers like Pioneer etc.
I had 4 units in total within the first warranty year! all with different failures, ranging from interference to blown outputs. Fortunately the last unit kept going until I sold the van. If you look on the WWW you will see that I was not alone in my problems.
The other problem is that although you can angle the display, it’s mounted in the middle of the dash which is not an ideal position for the driver to look at. IMO it’s far better to mount a display on the RHS of the dash which is more comfortable to view.
Sorry I didn't see your post yesterday but I would be wary of buying one of these units.
Regards
John

The display, although small is perfect for a small van / camper and is actually free! (This kit is cheaper than buying the camera on its own). You can buy really cheap systems off ebay and they maybe good. I bought this roadpro camos kit a year back and the camera is superb and the display produces a really crisp picture.
Whatever you do I would avoid wireless.
